ETHER is a kind of anti-radio. Instead of being tuned to a specific radio station, it receives all the interference and radiation that a traditional radio tries to eliminate in order to create a clean signal. It captures the radio waves “as is” from hertz to gigahertz, because it doesn’t contain the tuned input circuit that filters out all frequencies except the narrow band of a specific station. I ordered an Ether. I was surprised at the sounds they were getting in the demo! It looks like it'll be fun. I'm going to patch up a weird video feedback thing with the Ether pointed at my TV and running the audio to my Critter and Guitari Video Scope and Premium Cable. Also, going to go for a few hikes with the Ether and Zoom H5. Next level field recording?

"I've seen comparisons with different magnetic fields detectors so I decided to post the explanation: ETHER is not just an inductive sniffer as some projects that you can easily find in the net. A simple low-frequency inductive sniffer will be silent in most places that full of sounds in the video. Such devices have to be placed close to the emitting device and will not work on a street. Such devices have just a coil and a low-frequency amplifier. In compare, ETHER has the regenerating circuit and the demodulator, so it's a real radio waves receiver, not just an amplifier of low-frequency magnetic fields. However, ETHER can perceive the low-frequency magnetic fields as well. But, honestly, if you would like to scan devices in close proximity (0-20 centimetres), such devices as Elektrosluch will work cleaner and more focused due to the narrow bend and lower sensitivity. ETHER designed to be first of all a part of your walks in a city and may sound even in a forest or a seashore (I have such experience). While Elektrosluch designed first of all for using over a table full of gear. Also, ETHER can perceive the electric component of the radiation as well, captures radiation that is far much above the audio range and much more sensitive. In this way, it has different design, functions and implementation than a simple inductive sniffer though in some cases their functions crossed."

Talking about the Ether with some older heads brought up a lot of DIY concepts.. and someone commented that it wasn't as cool as a bat detector, which I hadn't heard of before.

Here's a clip of the Black Corporation Kijimi (based on the RSF Polykobol), that was just shared. It's showing as in-stock (if you can foot the $3,700 bill). I'm not sure how many people were interested in the kit version, after these were unveiled last year.
