Seymour Duncan announces the Fooz, a Moog-inspired synth fuzz on the same day as the cancellation of the Moogerfoogers. I'm disappointed with the Moog news, but this is a cool pedal for synth & guitar users.

It's a bit like having a Vox Repeat Percussion and an EHX Micro Synth in a single, more customizable box. $349 street and it's already available at some dealerships.

There are several unlisted artist videos on the EQD page. (Lee Ranaldo, Kelley Deal, Nels Cline & more) I have to go to bed, so someone else will have to post them if he/she feels inclined.

You can also hear several audio examples at the bottom of the page. (synths, bass, drum kit, guitar)

In a move timed to mark the 40th anniversary of the legendary Prophet-5 poly synth, Dave Smith Instruments has officially rebranded as “Sequential” — returning to the name of Dave Smith’s original, ground-breaking company. Going forward, all products and services will bear the Sequential® brand.

Dave Smith explained the decision this way: “This month marks the 40th anniversary of the Prophet-5. That’s a huge milestone. And it felt like the right time for us to completely restore the Sequential brand and bring our journey as a company full circle. The name change also reflects the fact that our instruments are the result of a team effort. It’s not just me. It’s the entire company.”

A while back there was some discussion about a possible offering from Alexander inspired by the Alesis Quadraverb. Is that inching toward a fall release?

There have been a couple updates this week on the synth front. Current ETA is early 2019 ($1400/960 GBP) for the Sinfoniōn.

http://audiophilecircuitsleague.com/

Jason [Instruō]:

There is a change in direction that I have to announce.
After some recent discussions, Mathias and myself will be parting ways on the Sinfoniōn as a collaborative Instruō module.
Mathias will be continuing development in Germany with ACL, so don’t worry! The module very much has a future!

[...]

I wish Mathias all the best with the Sinfoniōn’s future. It is going to be a spectacular module when it comes.
Mathias and myself do plan to continue collaborating on other projects, it’s unfortunate that practicalities didn’t work out in this instance for the Sinfoniōn.

Black Corp. is working on a tribute to the coveted Elka Synthex. A couple of years ago there was an attempt to revive the Synthex in Europe, but it failed to meet its crowdfunding goals, which were a bit too ambitious and too rushed in my opinion.

We’re presenting Xerxes @synthposium today - 8 voice analogue synthesizer. More info and demos very soon.
