Any predictions about time line for next batch, Scott?
How about CT5 firmware update that saves settings?

we had ~200

see above for eta

and we will have an alt ct5 firmware soon that includes many things no one asked for, and likely none of the things people have, sorry. (:

Got one too, although I was originally planning to hold out for a Ct5... now I have to get both I guess. If the 856 doesn't tickle my fancy I'll have it up for reasonable price/trade wants.
My music:

Wow, what a pool of piranhas!
Hopefully the ct5 round will go a bit slower, or else I will stand no chance with my check-once-a-day cycle...
Nice for MA getting rewarded for developing a good pedal!

Am I going to have to buy a second one to keep the tap to start/stop recording on the one I have now?

All gone by the time I woke up, but it probably saved me from spending money I don't really have, so it's all good :)

Maybe next time.

I managed to add one to my cart, but by the time I went to checkout, it was no longer available. So close.

I was outside enjoying the weather like an idiot for this and the FORM2.

I remember in the mid-late ‘90s there were websites that would “snipe” eBay so you could bid late on auctions- used it a few times, don’t think it worked for me but anyway- with all the computational advancements of the past two decades, I’m assuming something like this does (or could?) exist? :idk:

Is there a one page cheat sheet for the 856 like the ones that were floating around for the Ct5?

Getting myself mentally prepared for this thing to arrive... tomorrow's tasklist includes formatting the manual into something that flows nice to print, so I can cast a furrowed brow over it while I perplexedly twist kbobs.

There isn’t yet, but I believe the the guy who did (one of) the Ct5 ref charts is going to work on one for the 856 as well!

Scott: besides power consumption + layout, is there anything that is different in the new batch of pedals from the 1.1 firmware manual online?

Also: I did some digging back through the thread last night, + found this, which may be of use to some other folks with an 856 incoming:

I've attached the cheatsheet that came from that.
Let me know if you think anything should be changed.

...tho the attachment doesn't want to be quoted, so I will link to the post.

Oh, wait, can I just re-attach the PDF? Sweet!

It just arrived! In the middle of getting ready to print the manual, no less.

Super-excited, though in the immediate term I've got a busy week so I won't be able to do much with it until after the weekend.

In the slightly longer term, I may already have my first project to use it with: I got asked to perform with an ensemble doing a super-slow version of "In C". Even at slow speed, there was no practical way I'd be able to read/memorize the cells in real time, so I planned to either just create little recordings or sequences of them and then manipulate those as my contribution. So, all those little note-bursts look like a nice tasty sized morsel to sample into the 856.

Meanwhile: folks who have one already... Given that there's gonna be a larger-than-usual incoming "class" of new 856ers (Zellersasnists?) does anyone have any advice? Anything you wish you knew right away when you started?

Read the manual. Then read it again. And again. No, your pedal isn't broken.
