Yeah, very cool and original idea.

Beyond drums, could a weird CT5 loop act as the ducking source against guitar in the other input?

You can view both channels as having an envelope detector that will trigger the effect on the other side.
Anything that crosses that threshold will work. Lots of sources have been tried. Mikes, guitars, synths, Harold Budd ;)
