So the venue I was at the other night will give out tickets to upcoming shows that haven't sold out. I ended up with 8(!) tickets to see Andrew WK with his full band tomorrow night. I'm not sure what a 2017 Andrew WK audience looks like, or if I want to be a part of that. I'm going to watch some local dudes tonight whose bandcamp uses the descriptors "PEAVEY HENGE" and "OM WORSHIP" so that should be fun, then I'm going to get up at 4 am for a day of bone grinding factory work. Do I go party party party with the hardest partying white denim enthusiast on the cartoon network?

It seems obvious to me that you should want to be part of that.

So...King Crimson is coming to town next week. I saw them on the Three of a Perfect Pair tour back in high school. Do I dare see them again?

Tom Petty, bless his now-deceased heart, put on one of the most stilted, boring, forced arena rock shows I have ever been to. If he was a teacher, you'd've said he had no classroom management. The audience was all over the fucking place. No one listening to the songs, impossible to see the stage over people coming in and out, I literally slipped in spilled beer and cracked my face on the concrete floor. It was so much more a drunk-on than a concert, begging the question: why pay $100-odd dollars to just get drunk? Why not go to a dive bar, put "Free Fallin'" on the jukebox, and spend $100-odd dollars on (much, much more affordable) beer? Awful baby boomer graphics behind him the whole time and it was like he was doing a karaoke of himself; I'd've rather listened to the CD. Literally left early. Fuck arena shows, man, I'm 31 and I have too much self respect.

The thing is, to me Tom Petty meant more than getting to the point and rolling another joint one last time to kill the pain, and I realized in there that... maybe to most fans, he didn't, which is valid, but awful, to me. RIP. I hated your show and I didn't gel with your base.

AS FOR PUNCH BROTHERS' AMERICAN ACOUSTIC TOUR, well, it was one of the singular concert events of my life. I have never seen so many peerless musicians on stage at once. I cannot recommend this tour and this band enough. Chris Thile is one of the greatest musicians on the planet, that's a given, but there's a reason he's a radio host, too. The charisma and energy was infectious. It was like being at an old-timey radio hour. Played virtually everything you might have wanted to hear and then some. Three hours of tunes.

Saw Lee Ranaldo this past Friday and O M G was it great. Great performance, insanely good drummer. Way cooler than the album would lead one to believe.

Did they play many of the new songs? When I listened to the new record I wasn't as into it as Circumambulation.

Really been meaning to catch them live, too.

They probably did since I didn't recognize some of them and I haven't listen to that one yet. They played a lot from Circumambulation and a few from "As high as" though, and only 1 from the self title.
