Open Source ILF Collab Vol. 2 (JAMS IS LIVE, PAGE 14!)

Postby D.o.S. » Thu Nov 23, 2017 10:09 am

Hey all, anyone fancy doing another iteration of this? .Tentative target would be to have everyone signed up for the holidays.

In case you missed the first go around, here's the thread regarding vol. 1:
viewtopic.php?f=150&t=51784

As for the nuts and bolts, they'll be the same as last year.

Nuts and Bolts
NSFW: show
1-Each participant should ideally contribute 1-2 samples that will get compiled, zipped up, and shared with everyone involved with the project once all the sounds are submitted.
2- You can do whatever the fuck you want to the samples after you receive them, but the pieces should be comprised of just sounds derived from the common pool. i.e. don't take someone's sample and then write your own song that features 1-2 of the noises submitted, ya dig?
3- Formatting: WAV or AIIF is best, depending on if you're a Mac person or a PC person. They're both lossless, and they're easily interchanged without a noticeable loss in quality
4- If people are down, the project goes off without any massive hitches, and everyone involved submits something, this will almost entirely be a free digital release with no plans on my end for physical copies (and subsequently no cost to obtain or contribute). That's subject to change, of course, but it seems like the easiest and most painless way to do it. Any sort of sequencing/mastering/artwork/so on will be tackled at the appropriate time.
5- contact info. I've set up a project email for this, you can send samples here: ilovefuzzopensource@gmail.com. That is also the address that will be sending these out, so please hit it up with an email that you check.

Stoked!

Pretty sure everyone who perished last year had a blast, and I've been asked by a couple people about a Vol. 2. So here it starts

I'm interested, as long as the time constraints are not too harsh.
And I didn't perish last year (it would be a ghost samples compilation otherwise this year) but definitely enjoyed it, though ;).

if i understand and am reading this correctly, people that want to do this need to register before the holidays, but there is not a decided date for the deadline of submitting sample material or finishing the tracks correct? I would like to sign up but just would like to have a firm idea as to the deadlines sometime in the near future if possible. also, if any artwork is needed for the release, i would be happy to contribute if it is desired and wanted.

EDIT: simple vision of what was said above: count me in. let me know exact dates when you can. i can contribute artwork if it is wanted.

Awesome!

ibar: Deadline for the last one was two weeks to contribute samples and three weeks to make a track once the sample pack went out. All of that is contingent on the list being full/ sign-ups closing... so let's say up to 15 people or Dec. 8th to close. Then samples to me by mid Dec, I'll send the sample pack out shortly after new year's?

If you want to do artwork you're more than welcome to :)

okay sounds great :thumb: i will start working and looking through my things to see what might apply to this. if you have a theme or suggestions for concept direction, feel free to let me know as well. otherwise i will just see what i can come up with on my own and run it by you to see what you like

I just listened to the first one, it was pretty awesome. I have no idea how to do this kind of thing so I'm not signing up, but I look forward to hearing it when it's done.

Maybe we should have some fuzzy guidelines for the samples this year.
Like, a duration limit maybe and ideally not things that are already super layered/full tracks, as it gives less freedom for people to combine/mash them together.

But then, I'm thinking about guidelines more than hard rules.
