Halfway through Stefan Grabiński's 'The Dark Domain'. It's a collection of strange short stories by a Polish author who died in the '30's. It's sick, every story so far has some bizarre Bend to it, a sort of Ligotti vibe.

Anyone have a fantasy/science fiction series that it seems "only you" love? Looking for something off the cuff and involving as I need to stop watching so much goddamn Howard Stern on E! circa 2001 - 2009.

After putting it off for years, I read my first manga last week: Akira. What an awesome trip that was. I don't remember much detail because I burned through it in two days, but TBH one of the things I liked most was how inclusive the story is - old/young/male/female/good/bad/attractive/ugly, there were interesting characters everywhere. Seems noteworthy for something written in the 80's?

It made me appreciate the movie even more. Compressing 6 volumes into 2 hours and still getting the general point across is impressive.

Diving into Clive Barker's The Scarlet Gospels right now. It's fun, if a bit light so far (I'm trying to avoid burning through the whole thing in an evening)... reminds me a bit of China Melville's stuff... only gorier.

I just picked up Invisible Man because i embarrassingly didn’t realize that is a book, let alone such a famous one.

I just finished Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep and started the City and the City. I absolutely loved Do Androids Dream and I am really enjoying the City and the City so far. Next up is probably Dune

DISAPPOINTED

(I obviously endorse this book and think it is the best.)
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.

Great book ... "On the suffering in the world" is great as well as "The vanity of existence" ... His ideas preceded/predicted Darwin's ideas ... My favorite quote: "you can only be yourself as long as you are alone"
