Alessandro Cortini talks about this book and it seems like everyone agrees its one of the defacto books on learning synthesis as a whole.

Oooh, that reminds me I need to read that Daphne Oram book, as stripes recommended it on IG at the beginning of summer:

MrNovember wrote:If you really want to downsize, I would move your essential modules into that 208 case and the skiff and I'd try to focus on using only that for awhile. Try to figure out if you're missing any of your other modules or if there's anything that you don't really need.

Well what I use at home in the studio != what I would use in a live setting. I want to finish the case off because I have OCD.

Before this setup, I was just using the 3 tier rack on the right with the skiff; then I thought I needed the Atlantis which I wasn't using (instead of getting a SH101) so I moved the skiff setup into the 208 on the left plus the Atlantis and some other non-drum modules. Now I have the Eloquencer so I am revamping the setup to include drums, which takes up A LOT of real estate.

The issue with that is the 208 rack is too thick/high to lay down flat (or even angle safely) and still use it comfortably, so I'm using all 3 of the racks I have. Obviously I'm not going to take all this with me on the road.

I'm still gonna use everything I got when I'm at home. If I'm outside, the Analog Rytm makes too much sense.

Sorry fam. That's one of the few untouchable modules on my setup.

Unless I get a Rainmaker... :picard:

jia. i asked Ruiner about his, talking to him, checking Ilya's site and chatting with him was PLENTY to make me jump on one.

i love the light, love that it closes patched, don't mind giving up the 4 hp for the light control. just EXCITED.

This comes out tomorrow and I am excite.

For me, it will go directly into the rack. Then the rack is completely full and I'll have to decide if all the pieces should stay in the rack. One piece which is not staying in the rack is the BASTL ABC which has a broken channel A (volume knob no work). I don't know how to fix a module.

Oh my goodness the Chimera is cool.

I haven't been using my modular enough recently. :( Want to formulate big plans but need to understand what I'm missing and where I want to go first!

DAMNIT. Malgorhythm just got here, Wogglebug and Quadra and Keystep are supposed to hit tomorrow, annnnnnnnnnnnd i have no audio interface. i sold my K-Mix to fund grabbing a Focusrite 18i20, but i just sent out K-Butts, and the other won't get here until Monday.

I DID NOT PLAN THAT VERY WELL.

.... i mean, i have a Komplete Audio 6 as backup, but it's..... finicky. and only 2 ins. so. hurmph.

off to try getting that working now.

Deepmind sounds pretty good in all the demos I've heard over the internet. I might grab the 6 voice at some point. I'm waiting to see how well the hardware holds up though. Only had limited experience using one of their bass practice amps 12 years ago. Sounded like ass. Glad it wasn't mine.

But I have no use for a giant ass multi effects unit at this point.
If someone has a 14hp max, reverb and delay with some cool patch options. Maybe. Someday I might check out a Clouds. Even that I'm only partially interested in.

have you looked at Warps? with the Parasite loaded it does INTERESTING. THINGS.

sigh. yeah. my "backup" audio interface is fried. or something. can't get it to work. meh. weekend to fuck with bass noodlins.

also, i am torn. Focusrite that's on the way should be tasty with modulars. pads on inputs, supposed to not peak even without them. gooooood.

but i kind of want to grab a Zoom L12, and if it can handle modular levels without attenuation, send back the Focusrite. it sucks that the L12 records pre faders like the K-Mix, but it DOES record multi track post fader to the sd card recorder. sooooo.... the times i want to record jams/ideas that incorporate fading and muting i would have to take an extra step, but still have the option.

plus, 12 inputs mo bettah than 8.

and this would let me NOT grab a pair of Pragas, leaving me 40 extra hp to grab a TipTop Zed 8000, a dedicated quantizer for it, and have a little extra for SUMPHIN.

i.... think that's how i want to roll?

It's 10HP and has no reverb but the Chronoblob is an excellent delay. Syncs to a clock flawlessly, feedback path accessible and a very cool option to interpolate the delayed signal when changing delay time, which means no pitch shifting (though you can get that usual behaviour with the switch in the other position). I really don't regret getting mine. That + a Pico DSP makes a great 13
HP effects section...
