Plenty of clarity, knobs fully cranked, dial them down you get to find where the runaway sustained frequency sizz works for your playing and still clarity in that rawness, all the knobs on mine are sensitive as phuk.

I have a rat but it doesn't quite get what I want.

Tone Bender Mk I vs. Tone Bender Mk II?

I think the tone bender is what I'm after. Nice a full sounding, but still really splatty.

Ok. I went through a big demo vid that showcased both a soul-bender and a fuzzrite and I'm vibing with the fuzzrite more now.

I didn't know it had pretty good note clarity. That's exactly what I need. Are there any essential modern mods for the fuzzrite circuit? I've seen a few with a bass boost which may come in handy if it sucks a ton of bass when kicked on.

A handy reference point for the various Tonebenders and other vintage germanium fuzzes. The Mk II comes off like a heavy metal fuzz, where the Mk I is more Maestro-ish in its spit and snarl.

I built this:

a few years ago using the 2N2369's (I literally have like 80 if anyone wants a few to build one) and put the bias offboard as a 10k pot.. and it does everything. It's a fantastic fuzz. I don't know if there's any videos of it on the net, or if you're interested in building pedals or having them built for you, but this one is pretty juicy for such a low parts pedal. Mines hot pink with a purple Angler fish sticker on it haha! :joy:

This sounds interesting. Any demos? How muddy does it get with chords?

Well that depends on the "Bias" knob. You can get pretty sweet clarity out of it, but you can also make it so that if you play more than a power chord it sounds like a gorilla farting underwater. I could maybe do a little phone demo of it later if you'd like.

Phone demo would be sick! I'm very interested.
