Took 20 seconds to believe this wasn't a troll video. Watched the whole thing and now I am not sure. Avant-Farte.

This is the Beatsqueezer, which is described as a hi-fi sampler. I don't know much about its price or availability, but if you have facebook, feel free to share any additional details. It's been in development for a while, but I'm not sure how many have actually been made distributed.
If you want to help me with device production / improvement, to ask some questions or want to get one, please welcome to Beatsqueezer's Facebook page ;)

This new PolySpaze from Gotharman looks crazy (and so is the price).

€1400 to pre-order or €1700 for CV options

Roland D-05

Image

"Roland announces the D-05 Linear Synthesizer, the latest addition to the growing Roland Boutique electronic instrument lineup. The D-05 is a compact reproduction of Roland’s D-50 Linear Synthesizer from the late 1980s, one of the most influential synthesizers ever produced. Combining the newly developed Digital Circuit Behavior (DCB) sound generator with the actual samples used in the original instrument, the D-05 delivers the D-50’s iconic, highly recognizable sounds with complete authenticity, backed by all the modern conveniences of the compact and affordable Roland Boutique module format.

Released in 1987, the D-50 was Roland’s very first all-digital synthesizer. Powered by the revolutionary Linear Arithmetic (LA) Synthesis engine, the instrument’s unique mix of sampled attacks and synthesized sustaining waveforms – plus built-in chorus, reverb/delay, and EQ for studio-quality polish – made it a must-have synth for musicians around the world. The D-50’s bold new sounds and beautifully crafted presets inspired artists everywhere and quite literally dominated the popular music, film soundtracks, and commercial jingles of the era. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of this giant in the history of synthesis, Roland presents an inspiring recreation that brings the genuine D-50 experience to the music creators of today and beyond."

You can go on Reverb and buy an original one for about the same price it'd cost to get the reissue and a keyboard....

So, not only is it a reissue of an extremely hard to program synth, it's not even a synth that held any value over the years. They should just roll through their analog synths and keep rereleasing those. I'd love an Sh-2 or a Jupiter-4 in this format.

The D-50 was a really popular synth when it was released and for years after that. Plenty of cool and unique sounds in it and I personally want an original one. I think the whole Boutique thing is lame, but there's obviously a market for them.

This video gives me chills

For roughly the same price you can get an original and have a much better keyboard, though? I get that people may want them, but there are originals available for the same or cheaper

Yeah but you know, the D-05 is super portable compared to the D-50, battery powered and it's a new piece of hardware with warranty and what not. It gives you "retro" and new at the same time maan. There's probably going to be an editor for the D-05 too and it has arp/seq funtionality.
Hopefully the originals fall in price cause of this. :idk:

Skander and I are the resident 90's synth fan boys!
The D-50 is awesome! Especially if you love shitty dungeon synth tunes like me! I think this was the TWIN PEAKS synth? Didn't fact check...
Of all the "boutiques" this is the most appealing to me...I would probably get this if I was on the market for it (I do realize how retarded that sounds). I think I would be Roland's ideal segment (I want those sounds, but don't want an actual D-50, want something small, don't want keys etc.).

But to Willy's point...too much money (take what I say with a grain of salt cause I just bought LYRA  and may be getting a third PLL pedal ).

Not to mention I promised myself I would go 'early 2000's Russell Haswell' on my old ThinkPads before ever buying another hardware digital synth  V:cry:V.

1010music have released Synthbox, a polyphonic wavetable synthesizer built into their now familiar touchscreen based Eurorack module. It follows the Fxbox effects processor and Bitbox sampler that went before it. If you already have one of those then you can simply swap the firmware to enjoy the Synthbox.
