My store has had one for like a week? Just sitting in the back until today. I've played with it a couple of times and it's really fucking cool, but I haven't had long enough with it to decide if it's useful or just cool.oldangelmidnight wrote:Was the Bit Commander a PLL?neonblack wrote:So it's like the big brother to the bit commander?
That looks pretty rad actually.
Looks like they're aiming for the white whale.

My fav examples of the Data Corrupter have been the drum machine files on the EQD site and the Sub 37 samples from Juan's upload. I've never been a big PLL fan and this one still seems like it's ideal for limited applications.

From the demos I've seen, the tracking is pretty great. Suddenly a lot more excited for this.

Maybe for a 2018 of 2019 preview (if that) thread since a pending Kickstarter, but hardware granular synth: https://m.Facebook.com/tastychipselectr ... 99/?type=3
Some tea-leaf reading commentary and the point of "Well, cool, but if you have time, you can roll your own embedded PD system for much less than 800 euros."

I like the look and the sounds are solid, but I think if I'm going to spend $1,000 or more on a digital synth, then I'd likely just move on to the Quantum, which is also delivering sampling, granular modes, and other interesting features.Gone Fission wrote:Maybe for a 2018 of 2019 preview (if that) thread since a pending Kickstarter, but hardware granular synth: https://m.Facebook.com/tastychipselectr ... 99/?type=3

---It's surprising/disappointing that there aren't more independent synth builders. There are lots of possibilities for keyless digital desktop units in the $200-500 range.

£119 / $155 each & the Getaway has a cab simulator headphone out. I'm not sure that I'm hearing anything new here, but I like the cab sim feature.

That prototype had me thinking something not dirt- super cool, I'm sure- but had my heart/mind/soul/credit card set on verb. emoticon.
But enough about me- a happy 5th anniversary to Hungry Robot

Bike backwards and you get a reverse delay.

The Erica Synths Fusion Drone System was originally unveiled about a year ago, but after undergoing some tweaks, it's finally available in the EU.

Remember the Ventris? SA is still making preview clips, but still no firm word on a release date. The product page claims September, but I'll have to see it to believe it. They have also updated their site to describe different algorithms and features. We'll see.

Re: Gear preview 2017
I bought a Sub37 last year, and then about 6 months later Moog announced the Subsequent 37 CV. This didn't really bother me. (been there before many times) I thought of it more as an addition than a replacement. But today's announcement of the Subsequent 37 is a bit silly to me. It's just the 37 CV without the control voltage features or a silver aluminum enclosure. If you're going to improve upon current products, that's fine. I support companies learning and improving upon their designs. What I don't like is seeing a company make a better version, then taking a half-step back. This just seems a bit cluttered to me, to produce 3 different versions of the same product within a single calendar year.

Its not really a step back. Its the replacement for the Sub 37. They discontinued the Sub 37 on the same day they announced the Subsequent 37 so now they have two models. One with CV and one without.echorec wrote:I bought a Sub37 last year, and then about 6 months later Moog announced the Subsequent 37 CV. This didn't really bother me. Also, Fender makes 145973405712450 different models of the 'same guitar' so its not uncommon for companies to make different versions of the same product.

Re: Gear preview 2017
It is a step back, because it offers less than a model currently in production (the Subsequent 37 CV). Moog took a step forward with the 37CV (based on user demand), now they've taken a half-step back by removing that feature. And as I said, they've now produced 3 different versions of the same model in one year, which is excessive.whoismarykelly wrote:Its not really a step back. Its the replacement for the Sub 37. The synth industry isn't the guitar/guitar effects industry. Companies like Moog, DSI, and Oberheim have a much more streamlined catalog than companies like Fender, EHX, Gibson, et cetera. You'll never see Moog release 15 simultaneous versions of the Voyager, like EHX does with the Big Muff or Gibson with the LP.whoismarykelly wrote:Also, Fender makes 145973405712450 different models of the 'same guitar' so its not uncommon for companies to make different versions of the same product.
When huge companies like Fender/EHX/Gibson release new models, it's often viewed by many as a superfluous cash grab, rather than a genuine achievement of product enhancement. It's not about innovation, so much as a haphazard attempt to monopolize the market by exhausting all possibilities. So while you're right that companies do engage in this practice, you can't use the guitar industry as a model for the synth industry, which is much smaller and operates much differently due to market size, costs, and other logistical reasons.
