Especially since when you're on the internet your intent cannot be given correctly because you are typing it out. I'm much better at explaining the way I feel or what I think in person. So personally, I feel like this thread should be dead now. The election is over and now it's just a constant reminder of people's disgust. Isn't that why we have the Spite Rage thread? Just saying.

If people were more open to others ideas and listening, I don't think there would be as much fighting. I could be wrong, but I don't think I am.

If anyone talks about their views and it's outside of the liberal mindset, maybe not yourself, but other team up and throw a fucking fit and do everything they can to make that person look stupid or invalidate their opinion.

I don't know how well known it is from my posts, but I think it's been established that I'm a libertarian.
There's certainly been some opinions on that, but no one's "ganged up" on me about it, just refuted certain arguments they didn't agree with.
This is the thread I'm most active in and, so far, no one's pushed me out.

Re: "you better fucking hate Trump", I wouldn't say it's an absolute thing at all. It's mostly just, "if you can't back up your support with actual logic, you're gonna have a bad time".
No one here has infringed on other's free speech or censored them up until the point they become abusive (like saying "you're all fucking dumb"/"fuck off you absolute imbecilic infants"/"keep sucking the system's cock", etc.).
Political arguments naturally mean strong opinions, and if you can't handle counter arguments, this isn't the right thread for you (that's a universal you, by the way).

What I take from this thread is, off the pig, so...this is america, we need people to hate and fear more than inspirational hero's, more Lynette Fromme's and less glorification of heart felt babble from the peanut gallery, murderous villains inspire more love and togetherness than the martyr who preached oneness or tolerance, in their death, the dream becomes not a mission to continue but a separate looming entity we can all fall back on to pray towards when someone blows up a family owned burger joint ran by children of Islam.

That's a valid point, jwar. I'd say the tenor of the thread is reflective of the views of the majority of ILFers who choose to post in it. There's nothing I can do about that. This thread (like our political system) is far from perfect.

I try to respect everybody's opinions as long as they're likewise respectful. I may not always agree. If someone can convince me my beliefs are in error, I'll gladly change my views.

While I'm no fan of Trump, I'm also not thrilled with Clinton. Like I've maintained throughout this thread, it's the "lesser of two evils".

As far as people being made to look like assholes, I'd say that's only if they themselves allow it.

So, I'd once again like to reiterate, we should, please, try to keep this dicussion civil and respect other's beliefs.

I should also add that if people post in this thread they should be willing and able to defend what they've posted and do so in an intelligent, constructive manner.

As for Manny, almost every thread he starts or shows up in turns into a shitfest. He has no evidence to support his claims, so he just resorts to tossing ugly insults at anyone who disagrees with him.

So, myself being a mixture of both sides feels often times like my view points are unwelcome because they might oppose the overwhelming majority. I guess that's a me issue though.

Good points up here. Despite the impression of the board being left-of-center, there is a definite libertarian streak that I don't find bothersome due in no small part to the civility abided by many on here.

I don't have much to add besides: if you join a community and then constantly tell people to ignore your activity, rather than reckoning with the criticism you constantly earn from them, then it makes me wonder why you stick around instead of starting your own board/blog/etc
