From a Google cache of a site that must have prematurely posted:

Description

The Data Corrupter is a wild, yet repeatable three-voice Modulated Monophonic PLL Harmonizer that takes your input signal and brutally amplifies it into a crushing square wave fuzz tone that is then multiplied, divided, and modulated to create a harmonically complex, expressive, and touch-responsive analog synth tone up to three octaves below (or above) the original, plus additional harmonies.

• Modulated Monophonic PLL Harmonizer
• Wild, yet repeatable three-voice guitar synthesizer
• Crushing square wave fuzz tone
• Master Oscillator capable of harmonies up to three octaves above the input
• Subharmonic harmonies up to three octaves below the input
• Frequency Modulator produces smooth portamento pitch-bends (Glide mode) or retro sci-fi laser effects (Vibrato mode)
• Frequency Modulator may be applied to only the Master Oscillator or to both the Master Oscillator and the Subharmonic voices
• Voice Mixer blends Master Oscillator, Subharmonic, and Square Wave Fuzz voices
• Harmonically complex, expressive, and touch-responsive analog synth tone up to three octaves below (or above) the original
• True Bypass
• Silent relay-based switching
• All-analog signal path
[/quote]

Thanks! I guess I could have googled it myself.

So it's like the big brother to the bit commander?

That looks pretty rad actually.

Do you really think they nailed it this time?

Eh, I think it'll be close enough? I'm not gonna pick nits over whether this is a remake of the tall-font/civil war/whatever version. If it gets me close to The Rental's guitar tones for under $80, the I'll be happy. :idk:
Fair enough. Nice to see they painted the sides on this one.

The more I see, the more I'm slightly interested.
Honestly, though, it's probably just the graphics that have me interested.

I just saw some pre-order pages for this latest Muff and it's $80.40, as opposed to their red/chrome Muff, which is $80.60. EHX stuff has the weirdest prices.

I still agree with your earlier assessment, when it was first teased. All the new multi-mode digital delays sound good/VG, but there's a lot of parity there. From the pink delay to this spaceship to Seymour Duncan's Andromeda. If you already have something like a Timeline, Echo System, or Nemesis, there's not much here for you, unless you're doing a second board, or really like the brand/graphics and feel like indulging yourself a bit. I can't really recall the last time I heard a new delay and disliked it, but there's a big leap from not disliking something to actually being piqued.

The Pladask Elektrisk Taken is the first new delay I've found that actually does something unique. Everything else that has come out recently just seems like more regular delays with filtered repeats and modulation added to the pile of dozens of other small box delays with filtered repeats and modulation.

The Tåken is definitely cool. I mentioned it at the end of page 44. For me, I don't think it could overtake something like the Keeley Echoes. On synths I like really ethereal, multi-head delays, which the Echoes does, without the noise of a real Binson or the proto-chorus of all the tape emulators. The modulation on the Echoes is deliberately over-the-top and unapologetically embellished. I do like the Tåken, though, as a pad builder or a modulation source. It seems to excel at creating space and thickening the signal, whether it's interacting with synths, drum machines, or stringed instruments. Also, the Tåken seems a bit like a Disaster Transport SR with an FX loop, which isn't a bad thing. My most-coveted PE pedal remains the Romferd, but hopefully in time I'll get to check out several of their offerings (current and future releases).

The echoes just seems like a small version of any big delay that has multitap and, while I cant see the manual online, Im guessing every available pattern falls within some 'correct' rhythmic division. The whole appeal of the Taken to me is the random modulation and the fact that the delays are only vaguely synced so the strict pattern quality of other multitaps isn't there. It just does its own thing and you can vary that by mixing the two sides to pick which delay is more prominent. It works a lot better for creating unplanned spatial tones than any of the intentionally random mod pedals that have come out recently.

I do use the Echoes for colliding cascades, but I think of it more like a bloom effect or a wash, than as a rhythmic device. I don't really think of it as being regimented or orderly either, because the modulation and feedback are so intense, that it's not delivering up a pristine rhythmic sequence. It's more of a bullish tidal wave crashing through, in my daily applications. As far as its actual character, it is a lot more colorful and haunting than what I've heard/played from dozens of other delays. Just going off YT, it seems the Tåken needs to introduce a lot of noise to really get a runaway cascade effect, which is a bit undesirable. Without owning one, I can't really give a final verdict, but it seems like other pedals or combinations are in similar territory. Besides something like the Shallow Water, I don't know of any recent mod pedals that are billed to be random. That's a bit misleading, though, considering the limitations of pedals. At best, you're getting pseudorandom results.
