Millimetric is hosting a guitar festival later this year - if you're still looking then, you could go see what luthiers there are showing.

It sounds like you're really only looking for stuff you can play before you buy which pretty much limits you to locally sourced guitars. Not really sure why even bother asking in that case tbh.... theres a world of cool stuff out there for your price point but pretty much none of it can be found locally even for most people in the states. You pays your money you takes your chances.

Ah, those are the new Fanos now that he's moved on from the original company. Haven't tried... I'd imagine they'd be better than current Fanos, but that's purely a guess.

Very curious to hear if anyone's played one...

Ohhhhh interesting. Was gonna say I like the fact that they're not relic'd. I'm not so much a fan of the full-width inlays and that huge headstock logo. But, still like a lot of things about it.

apologies if it's been asked before on a previous thread, but have you considered putting a parts guitar together? For your budget you could easily put together a Mustang or JM/Jag with a mix of vintage parts and new - get a body with some enlarged pickup routes and put whatever you want in it, etc. It's the route I went in order to get what I was after.

I'd love to... but I don't have the skills to do it.

Do you have a good local tech/luthier at a guitar shop or otherwise? If so, maybe ask one help you build a guitar. After all of the conversation, I think this really might be the best route for you.

Yes I know a good luthier. But not sure a partcaster guitar would be as good as a boutique guitar built some great builder like Dennis Fano or Nik Huber, ...

Maybe you should try playing some partscasters assembled by local peeps before making a statement like that? :idk: :snax:

I'd just hang on to the money until you play a guitar you can't live without. It'll happen.

There are people out there who really can make a damn fine partscaster. Or just small-scale, local makers who do a mixture of their own building with some pre-fab parts. We have a couple of such builders here and their work is nice.
