Serious question or am I walking into a dick joke? I tried butter and didn't dig it. It seems to add way more fatty mouthfeel (fine, I deserve it
) than actual flavor smoothness you get from half and half.

unsalted butter, maybe, but i'm sus as to whether it's actually nice (like cream in coffee) or just tastes like sweet fatty death (like a battered mars bar)

Why not just drink shitty coffee? The stuff I drink is bland enough that it doesn't matter how much cream or sugar you add. Still tastes like garbage and wakes me up.

Bulletproof coffee is the biggest load of bullshit out there next to all other scams that try and sell you stupid shit. It's not better for you to drink your coffee with fucking butter for God's sake. That doesn't even make any sense and you are overloading your system with fat.
I'll give you a for instance.
Yesterday my mother convinced me to try something very similar and mind you, I don't do this shit because I have studied nutrition and understand how the human body actually functions. She put melted coconut oil in coffee with some cacao and stevia. It tasted pretty good. 20 minutes later I felt extremely sluggish, exhausted and my stomach hurt like nobody's business. Why?
A few reasons. Number 1 is that my body is currently getting it's energy from a mixture of fats, carbs and proteins. So overloading my system with something like 50 grams of fat at once is going to shock it, which is EXACTLY what happen. My body did not know how to respond and as I result I felt sick.
Number 2. There is no actual real life or scientific evidence to support all the claims behind it. It can do this, it could to that is about all you'll find because it's simply not true. It is a good fat compared to others, but as a whole it is a fat and a high saturated one. Too much of anything is bad regardless of if it's a good thing. I've known lots of folks who got sick off eating broccoli and spinach for example. Anything can be toxic to a point. So my body, not being used to taking in such a large amount of this crap reacted in the opposite way it is said to happen.
Number 3 it's disgusting. It's like drinking slime. The overall taste of good because of the natural chocolate, but it was not anything to write home about. It did not add to my energy stores, it depleted them. There's something rather alarming about that.
Butter is gross, but in small doses it can help with gut health. In large doses, I'm sure all it's doing is adding to visceral fat cells. That's something to think about.
