Anyone own a food processor?

Post by ChetMagongalo »

It takes too long to chop veggies, anyone have a food processor they can recommend or some to avoid? i'm thinking maybe y'all would be selective about kitchen gear just like guitar gear. down to spend $100-$300, missed out on buying a nice used one on craigslist this week. mostly interested in using it to cut down prep time for veggies, making guacamole and maybe some nut butter down the road.

Cuisinart is good if you aren't going to use it constantly. I personally have one at home, but every once in a while I drop the top or whatever and have to get a new one.

If you can find a used Robot Coupe that's the way to go. They're pricey but have lifetime warranty and last FOREVER. They're what I use in all my kitchens.

Vitamix is really great, it does everything! I mean, it can heat a soup you just made with it. :joy:

Although nut butter are normally made with a grinding type of apparatus and nut a chopping one. I'm nut saying you shouldn't chop your nuts but I am nut sure about the longevity of your apparatus nor how long the blades will hold their edge after massive amounts of nut dismemberment.

I would probably use one once or twice a week. Yeah I've read that those are the best but they're always like $350+ and don't usually come with more than one blade from what i've found.

I thought these were more for blending liquids and making powders and don't work that great for chopping veggies? my friend has one and it's awesome for making smoothies and probably great at making nut butter. I might buy one down the road

I have a Kitchen Aid food processor that my mother-in-law got me for my birthday. It's pretty excellent, but I don't use it THAT much. Sometimes it's just easier to chop them yourself than go through the trouble of cleaning it. That said, it does some awesome things. I have vegan lasagna recipe that uses tofu and nutritional yeast that is so much easier because of it. And frozen banana ice cream.
