Re: The Whiskey Thread
ahhhh whiskey.
still think evan williams is better than jack daniels.

and safeway has a really good budget whiskey under the name samuel grant.
washington state taxes are crazy, so even this one is around $13.50 after tax which isn't horrible.
but a $15 bottle of booze easily becomes $22/23ish.
many reasons I'm leaving this state, and taxes are one.

Re: The Whiskey Thread
When my in-laws toured the Evan Williams distillery they broke away from the the tour group to explore and wandered into what was the prohibition era subterranean speakeasy. It was under renovation and when they were found down there a guy showed them around and told them all about the history of the place. I didn't realize how long the brand had been around, I just always thought of it as the go-to whiskey for drinking out of the trunk of a car.decomposing wrote:ahhhh whiskey.

heh, that was Bushmill's for me when I was younger. it was always on sale and had a bite!
that's pretty cool though. yeah jack daniels just copied them, but tastes like ass in my opinion. like licorice or something?

Devil's Cut with a few drops of water is surprisingly good. Might be my new daily drop.

I had sworn off Beam, but you are a man of discriminating tastes and Satanic wizardry of the most Secret kind, so I'll try and check that one out.

Re: The Whiskey Thread
I mean, for $40au a bottle it's okay enough. Nothing too crazy.
Or atleast, it's bottled at 45% rather than others in that price range

Hey man, anything that doesn't taste like dogshit steeped in paint thinner at the $40 mark is worth the price of admission

I got into whiskey a bit when I was living in Japan, they have some great ones. The Hakushu 12 year and Yamazaki 12 year are both great and pretty smooth. Unfortunately they're a lot more expensive in the US than they were in Japan, where you could even buy them in the neighborhood 7-11s. For Scotch whiskeys I like The Macallan and Laphroaig.

Re: The Whiskey Thread
Recently discovered that I can't enjoy any blend whiskeys and pretty much only enjoy single malts, much to the woe of my wallet. Lately been almost exclusively drinking Glenfiddich 12 year and Ardbeg 10 year. Any decent Canadian whiskeys I should be trying since I'm here?

I didn't mind this, it was completely non-offensive and not particularly exciting. Mellow and warm. My wife even thought it was OK and she hates the taste of all whiskeys.Andrew wrote:Bumparoo
