Some of you may have heard of the silent film, Man with a Movie Camera. For those that haven't, it is an old, experimental, soviet silent film that is credited as creating a lot of modern film techniques. It depicts a day in an modernist city, including lots of machinery and industrial images.

This film is famous for the range of cinematic techniques Vertov invents, deploys or develops, such as double exposure, fast motion, slow motion, freeze frames, jump cuts, split screens, Dutch angles, extreme close-ups, tracking shots, footage played backwards, stop motion animations and self-reflexive visuals (at one point it features a split-screen tracking shot; the sides have opposite Dutch angles).

It was fast paced in an era of slow paced movies. It has about the same average shot length of a Michael Bay movie.

It has become a film that many orchestras enjoy scoring. My personal favorite is the Cinematic Orchestra's version of it. And I was wondering if y'all would like to give it a go.

So, do y'all want to collaborate, split the movie up into chunks, and make an ILF version of the score? The only musical direction for the original film was a fast moving score

Yeah it's the bonus disc on the Substrata reissue, which is pretty essential listening, IMO. Biosphere is really fucking good.

I'm intrigued, but my recording set up is a little limited currently. I could do something soundscapey if that fits, but not a dense composition. Do you have a rough deadline?
