They're great, and they actually have some character unlike so many of the modern wave of small, lightweight bass heads. The portaflex cabs are nice, too.

so i've noticed. most mosfet/class d mini ss bass amps are so dull. the pf on the other hand sounds like an ampeg, which ampeg usually sucks at doing with solid state circuity.

glad you got one!! I have 2 in orange and one in black.

So I have the combo version (in black) & I really like it. A convenient package that is identical to the head. The Speaker of the World speaker sounds great; no need to replace. The only downside is that it is heavy, but then again, it is well built. Very well built.

Solid state is my jam. Not that I have anythingg against tubes, solid state is just what I have.

Got an Acoustic B100 less than a year ago along with a thunderbird for like $170 as a bundle and holy fuck, that amp has replaced every other amp I used to use. Stays clean at high volume, but still sounds dope with gain into it.

Weird. Might help to push it with something befote hand? I run a compressor at the end of my chain pretty hot and it makes that thing dirt up fine.

i couldnt even make it breakup with an active bass going into the unpadded input. i've been thinking about getting a compressor lately. maybe it's finally time.

Try it man. The compressor i use pushed the amp nicely into gritty, sludge land no matter what goes into it. Bass especially.

I use a Boss Bass Limiter/Enhancer. Use with both bass and guitar. Helps keep my gain stages level as well.

lol i even modded mine coz i just didn't know to get a real dirt pedal. i think every band i like has at least one mxr pedal on at least on of their boards so no, cant go wrong there.

looking back at the studio thread. you have an acoustic b-100, i have an ampeg b-100. we're talking about two totally different amps with the same name. good job music industry.

Played some doom into a solid state Univox of mine (U150R) that was turned up to 10 and it sounded amazing.
With the addition of my Mtl Asm Positive, it became absolutely unstoppable.

So how do you like the head? It's pretty exceptional and I'm seriously considering purchasing the 60 watt combo ...

Sorry I missed this. But to answer, I really, really like it. Don't get me wrong, I can still dig tubes, but this amp made me a solid state believer. No maintenance and good sound? Hell yeah. I'd totally grab the 1x12 combo if I could snag one.

I will say I didn't bond with the dirt channel right away, and wish the clean channel had the mid control instead. 95% of the time I run pedals into the clean side. But yesterday I had a breakthrough..my bari tele...it sounds awesome through the dirty channel, where my Strat just sounded kinda blah.
