The only reason republicans resisted Trump was they thought he couldn't win and would be a drag on the ticket. With the election behind them and their majorities saved, they have no reason not to make nice with him.

The reverse will not be true. Trump's election will make him feel like he can be as vindictive to
the Republicans who called him out on being racist and misogynistic and ill-informed on foreign and
domestic policy as he wants to be.

Ehhhh, I'm not sure. Remember how quickly after the primary he put everything under the bridge? His relationship with Paul Ryan will be interesting. I think it will hinge on what he decides to get passed right away. Repealing Obamacare? I think the two have more to benefit from cooperating.

2) If you genuinely believe that, you're a stupid person. Clinton isn't left wing by any stretch of the imagination, she's awful, but she hasn't been endorsed by the KKK either. She hasn't vowed to mass-deport immigrants or build a wall to keep "rapists" out of the country. She's not pals with Putin. You have been following this campaign, haven't you?

D) The other point you made was in reply to something you imagined I said, but didn't.
See this is the kind of shit I think jwar is talking about. The attempts to guilt, shame demonize people by superficial association.
Didn't work out so well in the brexit vote either, did it? But lets focus on things relevant to this campaign.
Historically the KKK was a dixiecrat militia, yes? In 2016 they have very little power, influence and relevance. Now contrast that with the financial institutions, insurers, big pharma, chem, agro, energy, comm, tech and media conglomerates who endorsed HRC for president...and firms who have been under federal investigation or indictment in the 21st century.

How much investigation have you done into the democratic candidate you're supporting from an ocean away?
Who she pals around with & accepts money from? Perhaps a current regime or two who keep their bitches in check...or else.
Not conspiracy theory shit, actual conspiracy shit. She's gangsta af d00d.

I fucking hate Clinton, thanks for asking. I don't support her in any way and I know all about her "foundation" as a front for political corruption and the fact she's basically a Goldman Sachs employee. Don't give me shit and then put words in my mouth. She is not as evil/harmful as Trump probably will be, that's all I said. I guess if you guys think she is, there's not much anyone can do to argue against that.

edit: half my family are american too.

I hope we can all agree that the scariest part of this cycle is that DoS is now a voice of reason.

I don't even smoke pot regularly, I just enjoy the idea that I live somewhere that I can when I want to and that folks won't go to jail for having it. Like Scotland. I saw those "we sell cannabis seeds" signs in Edinburgh. One of us. One of us.

This isn't a card I wanna play a lot, but I spend most of my day in conversations like these in and out of classrooms (the tenor is not as different as you'd think). It's not really that fun to do this in my 'free time.' Which is why I think my shitpost quotient is waaay up from when I started posting regularly.

Also: everyone's politics are a steaming bag of shit lit on fire, so it's kind of a shell game to have a conversation that goes anywhere other than Rage-istan.

If Paul Ryan genuflects and kisses the... er... ring... of Trump, then no problem.
But if not... then he is likely to be vindictive and hold a grudge. Nothing points
to any other likely outcome. Even though Trump lost the popular vote he saw that
"sea of red" on the electoral college map as a "clear mandate". He won't be confined
to teleprompters for long. And eventually he will get back his Twitter account.

How can you tell me to chill. Do you have Facebook?? All I've seen is pure hatred. Then I come to this place to relax and read ridiculous bullshit from people who aren't even in our country and have no say, yet seem to know better than all of us.
People also voted for down ballot candidates. The Republicans returned to the house and senate even
though they obstructed and didn't do their job for the past two years. To vote them back in is to give
Trump the keys to the whole kit and caboodle. He is going to leave his greasy fingerprints over the
country for the next fifty years by his ability to elect people to the supreme court. He is going to
leave his greasy fingerprints over US foreign policy because he somehow thinks that he can miraculously
pull off better negotiations than any other person ever in existence.

Trump has shown no ability to think rationally or sensibly or constructively about any subject of import,
and yet by voting in the Republicans to majorities in congress and the senate, there will be no "check" or
"balance" to counteract his every misinformed whim. It's going to be free rein for a meglomaniacal
idiot with poor decision-making skills and a penchant for delivering speeches reflecting his admiration for
Mussolini and Hitler. And he is already on record saying how much he admires Vladimir Putin. I'm sure he's
grateful for the Russian hacks, and the Wikileaks campaign on his behalf. So... yes. People in the world
are concerned.
