that's....... REALLY smart. I WANT TO TRY THAT. STEAL YOUR NIFTINESS.D.o.S. wrote:That's literally the worst thing about creating the raw materials for this stuff (since I record a bunch and then fuck with the recording after the fact to get it to sound "how I want"). When you're making it, live, there's an overwhelming tendency to say "ok, this has gone on long enough, time to twist a knob". Then you listen to the playback and think "why on earth did I twist that knob I've fucking ruined everything."behndy wrote:heyyyyyyyyyyy. alive as BUTTS. DOSEY DOSE.D.o.S. wrote:It's good. Anyway Drone music is awesome. It's hard to make drone-y music that isn't "watch me watch my instruments make one or two sounds", though. I think my success rate is about 30% with that.
i love listening to droney stuff, but how do y'all write long awesome evolving parts and then not let micro-ADD tendencies kick in and and hectic beats or faster noises or yah that stuff?
So now when I get whatever setup rolling into something I can see a next step for, I go make some tea or coffee or something, then come back and then twist the knob. That way you get 7-8 (or 20) minutes of proper raw material before you can "improve it" with the impatience factor rather than a 2-3 minute texture that's great followed by 4-5 minutes of things that are "not right" for it.

like, here i'd feel fine talking about how me and The GrrL realized the other day while making pedo jokes is maybe more problematic as you get older, in some ways it's smart.
constantly make jokes about how much you don't like being around kids? Friends With Spawn respond with, "oh but if you're around MY Amazingly Unique Partial Human, you'd realize how much you DO like them!".
make jokes about how my uncle molested my two brothers but never touched me...... am i...... am i ugly? what was wrong with MEEEEEEEEEE? then Breeding Homies arguments of "oh but if you're around MY Amazingly Unique Partial Human, you'd realize how much....... you do...... like....... children........ you know. never mind."
WOOT BABY-SITTING DODGING.
(kids can be really cute and fun to be around.... for like 20 minutes. i would make a horrible father.)

Cheers you all, here is mine!

The chain goes like this:
BOSS TU3 into the Philosopher King which I use as a compressor and to get a clean/grit mixed tone (with the grit control) and an extreme tremolo as well, then onto the Muffroom Cloud by Thorpy FX for very thick rhythm tones, then onto the Dr Freakenstein Fuzz for weird stuff and lead tones, then onto the King of Tone for my slightly overdriven tones (both on), then the Super Duper whose right channel is always on (makes my sound fatter and my distortions shine through it) and the left side of it is used as an alternative overdrive to the KoT, then the Hartman Flanger which is great on clean sounds, then onto the CE2 which is always on when playing clean/overdriven tones, then the Keeley Phase 24 which is a great and very subtle phaser and when used in conjunction with the Hartman and CE2 it makes together a nice granular slightly distorted modulation which sounds great on lead and slow tones; finally it all goes onto an Alter ego X4 which for me has proven to be a very easy to dial analog type delay and user friendly looper.

I'm going to bump this because it got buried pretty quick by some sweet as boards and socks.JonnyAngle wrote:What are some good grass roots digital delays?
I have the Mattoverse warble swell, which kicks ass, but I want to stack it with another "normal" delay. The particle and ct5 have too much panache for what I have in mind.
Analog delays are ok, but I can never get more than half a second delay time.

It sounds fantastic with bass! I really dig how much it squashes my signal and it is super loud. I love all the settings on it, especially the oscillation which I have not been a fan of in the past with fuzzes. Tom just does it right. I really like the octave up too. It's my forth octave up fuzz I currently own. LOL. It's very thick and I want to say splattery at the same time. I was so freaking happy when Tom put this up for sale as I've been looking for one for a long time.
Johnny, you don't need grassroots bro. You need a Nemesis.
But the Carbon Copy is good, Boss DD pretty much anything and many many others that I can't even think of because I'm not trying very hard. hahaha

Re: Let's see your PEDAL BOARD!
I had a RayGunFX Aurora which had bags of character. It's blend knob really doesn't want you to have much dry signal at all, it's hard to get a "normal" delay sound from it and it oscillates pretty nicely. Very cheap, too. It "feels" quite analog but I'm pretty sure it isn't.JonnyAngle wrote:I'm going to bump this because it got buried pretty quick by some sweet as boards and socks.JonnyAngle wrote:What are some good grass roots digital delays?

I realise writing this that it isn't what you're after but whatever, it's a cool pedal and I wish I still had mine. I bumped it to get my RE20.
