I had a friend of mine in the same place. He waited and finally got his new Travis Bean but had some life shit happen and had to move and had to sell it for a big loss.

Anyone know how the wait times have been on new ones lately? For my two the wait was more than twice as long as I was quoted which I hate but I do love their guitars and I'm thinking about getting another one.

I don't know what the current wait estimate is for new orders but would love to know too. My bassist has two on order, been two years now. A few months ago Kevin said somewhere (PRF I believe) that they had 200 guitars on order and would be (at the time) taking new orders soon. Since then there have been a lot of pictures of new guitars on Instagram and FaceBork. Pretty sure not every guitar gets a picture, since I do follow EGC everywhere and I still occasionally see peeps show off their new instruments once in a while, but they weren't featured in EGCs social media. With new orders, and the extensive backlog as it was, the pro-rocker-spokesmen-cut-in-line-ers, it is hard to guess. How many guitars a week can they make. 3? 5? I have no idea.

Historically they have severely underestimated build times, so many variable to come up, but the guitars completely over deliver. I figure the wait is part of the cost to own such an amazing instrument. It is as spiritual as going into the forest to get a vision, some fuckers are out there days, others might be gone for weeks, but they all come back transformed.

Kevin knows the wait is too long, and they are trying to streamline production by offering less options for now. No wood EGCs, no anodize finishes, no square fret markers, no custom bodies. Also doesn't look like Schaller strap buttons are included now, only option on the website is for standard buttons. Mentioned no tremolo other than the Denison model with the Bigsby.

I was quoted 7-9 months, and it came after 8. So I guess I was really lucky. Just a series one though with no real customisation, so that probably makes a difference. Luckily I was able to almost forget about it until I got the "ready to ship notice", then I was a wreck.

What bad vibes were attached to Spaceritual's?

A friend of mine ordered his in June/july 2014 and received it in april 2015, so that's about 9 months for him at least.

Kevin wrote a post on the Electrical Audio forum a couple of weeks ago, when long waiting times was the topic in the EGC-thread:

To shed some light on things. First, me. Back surgery, 4 to be exact over 2 years. Next, things like anodize and special finishes are out of my control. I have a batch of ano that has been there for 4 months, I'll spare the details, but it kept coming back fucked. The orders you never hear about are the ones that take 1-2 weeks. A lot in fact do. We keep packets on all orders, some are 1 page and some are 15 with so many changes its mind blowing. So in full disclosure, yes something's take way longer, but generally there's a reason that is not stated. I have been told many times that you have the Beans coming out, those have been in the works for about 6 years. The end of the custom stuff was an easy thing to decide. When a guitar takes 9 hrs to wire and that compounds with others, things get way out of whack. After 14 years that time adds way up. So sadly it's no longer practical. Anyone that has been upset, that's all on me and I'm trying to eliminate any chance of that happening again.

Growth is a tough thing for a company. I wish they could increase their production and since so much of their product is machine made it doesn't seem like it would be that hard to do. I get there machines are crazy expensive but there is obviously a greater demand than they can keep up with but then again there's also something special about a small company keeping output small because when guitar companies get bigger the quality is going to fall off (no matter how expensive your new Gibson is I can pretty much guarantee the nut or frets will need work and who ever keeps the stock pickups?). I'm glad I got my two custom EGC's while they were still doing them. Hopefully more makers will make aluminum guitars because I'm totally sold on them. Since I've gotten my EGC's I never play my Gibby's and I'm going to be selling all of them at the end of the month and hopefully picking up at least one more EGC (I wish that Scott Kelly had a little longer neck that 24.75"...it's also interesting that Scott doesn't seem to play this guitar, at least not with Neurosis).

In this market, its extremely hard to find people to maintain and program machinery, even CNC machines. Purchasing new machines is definitely a large investment but I'm sure he would want to make sure he could fine reliable people first....and frankly at his level I sincerely doubt he can offer pay and benefits packages that would make him in any way attractive over bigger players.

How do these sound? Anyone have an EGC with humbuckers that can speak to these?

I got EGC buckers in my Baritone TT2.
They sound great, very loud, but clear. Best buckers I have ever played.
I will swap the bridge pickup for a EGC single coil, but that is because I'm a SC-guy and not a HB-guy.
