It's just a matter of sourcing the parts and drilling some holes in a gong to save yourself a handful of monies if you decide to DIY. I made a couple demos of the sheet metal i used before drilling on the gong.

You can kinda get a taste of how the gong would respond from those, and there are some audio only clyps in my demo thread where I used my Persephone through it along with a listen to a contact mic on it for some lo-fi plate reverb...i think. That piece of sheet metal is so thin that it takes off pretty easy and you get that rumbling thunder sound you would expect from shaking sheet metal. There just isn't much harmonic content going on with it, but its kinda neat anyways. The gong is awesome, i've been meaning to bring it back home and demo it.
