Just checked what it'd cost a couple months out. That's not bad -- about the same as flying to SF.

I'd offer to host/let people stay at my place, but it's a little too cozy in my 150 sqft apartment to really have anyone over...

Yeah if you do some sort of tallying, Portland is easiest for me, but I will make an effort to go anywhere.

If portland gains in traction, I can look into getting some pedal makers and retailers to show up, and start looking into a space. Any thoughts on what kind of space/duration we'd need?

A noisy weirdo-meet? Sign me up! I live a couple hours south of PDX, so I'd probably be up for the trip as well.

I might be able to swing Portland depending on the date (quite the drive...I could fly, but I've never flown with gear). Might give me a chance to see my family in WA. SF or LA is cool too (if LA, I will definitely help/set up stuff).

I don't have any connections in Portland, but I'd be happy to offer any help I could as someone who lives here?Hyphen Nation wrote:If portland gains in traction, I can look into getting some pedal makers and retailers to show up, and start looking into a space. Rad. Let's see where this goes. Maybe we can grab a coffee in the next couple of weeks if Portland seems like a place everyone wants to go to.wfs1234 wrote:I don't have any connections in Portland, but I'd be happy to offer any help I could as someone who lives here?Hyphen Nation wrote:If portland gains in traction, I can look into getting some pedal makers and retailers to show up, and start looking into a space. Re: ILFNEM/West Coast maybe? 2016?
Is it worth us inviting builders to the event? There's a lot of folks local to Portland.
Retailers:
Old Town Music
Black Book Guitars
Both are well curated gear shops. I wonder if they'd join in for this kind of thing.
Pedal Builders in town we can reach out to:
Malekko
Spaceman
Mr Black
Wright Sounds
Sub decay
RML
Amp wise, local builders I can think of are
Hovercraft
Benson makes some damn cool amps as well.
Sour sound
I wonder if we are close enough to Seattle to get anyone from up there to come down as well?
Depending on scale and how organized we are, I wonder if we may be able to get a few other builders to come around? There's a lot of builders up and down the west coast.

I know Verellen's located a little ways South of Seattle? I don't know how interested builders/shops would be? I think it depends on how many people show up to this? Old Town music would be cool, though. I know there are a ton of local builders. Mr Black might show up if we stop picking nits over the spin chip.... I think it'd be cool if we could get Malekko to show up. They used to be part of the sponsored forums here.
I'd be happy if it's just us ilfers in somebody's bandspace/house/whatever, though. If we're organized enough, and there're enough people who'd want to come out to Portland, I don't see any reason not to find some kind of rental space and try to invite builders?
What do other people think? I've never been to one of these meetups. Would it be better to just have us fuzz-heads?

Haha. I doubt half those builders would go. Actually, I couldn't see any of them going. That's just what I think though. Now if they were ILF builders, then yes.

Re: ILFNEM/West Coast maybe? 2016?
Back in the day I organized lots of skateboarding events. About half had some form of sponsorship, half had none. They have a real different feel to them with and without support. The events, like this will be, weren't big enough to justify the companies paying for anything, so it just turned into a famous rider and some swag. I'd love to meet these people, especially jack deville, but that is inconsequential. If you do hit up companies, I'd look at Science Amps. They're like 2 hours north of Portland.
