Where does the name 856 for Zellersasn come from? and what about Count to Five?

It's short for EDI 856 Ship Notice (which is known as an Advance Ship Notice or ASN) for Zellers. Zellers being what used to be Canada's Walmart.

yes for a long period we were using paper we found in the garbage that had only been printed on one side, i mean like stacks and stacks. we made note pads. we used them a lot. 856 for ZELLERSASN is line from the pads. as if someone had printed about 3000 pages of useless information from some data log and thrown it out finally 20 years later. inspiring.

actually i only found this song a year or more after ct5 came out, but it's an amusing coincidence none the less. the name really means something like "go all the way to the reward", more of a personal reminder etc. names don;t always have that much meaning though. most of the pedals we released have either meaningless names to the end user or cheekily refer to some step in the signal processing.
