YES! My girlfriend's from Hamden, so I've been to most of the big New Haven spots. LOVE Louis' Lunch. Can't say what my favorite pizza is... maybe Pepe's?

In Austin we've got a lot of regional things you'd expect... great BBQ, Mexican, etc. One of the first things that comes to mind that people might not automatically think of is the wonderful culinary phenomenon of breakfast tacos. Crucial.

That and the holy elixir that makes up probably at least half of my bloodstream:

When in San Antonio, TX, or thereabouts, all of your 24hr taco needs can be fulfilled by visiting

Image

I don't live there anymore, but my god, I wish I still did.

Also, Big Red, which for a long time was only available within the region:

And every panaderia (mexican bakery) you could ever imagine (this one is in Mi Tierra, downtown SA, also open 24hrs a day):

Michigan:

Pasties
Vernors
Faygo (Insane Clown Posse/Juggalo/Juggalette references welcome)
Coney Islands
Jet's Pizza
Beer--all varities (I don't drink, but there is a shit ton of interesting beer here)
Koegel's

Buffalo, NY:

Lloyd's tacos
Wings, I guess
Jim's Steakout
Again, beer
Cheese-covered everything
Spar's European Sausages
Weber's Mustard
Mighty Taco (fucking awful; many like it, though)
Loganberry Soda
Sahlen's hot diggity dogs

Whatcha got?
The best thing about Vernors is drinking it with Jameson. The Vern Ehlers, as we call it over here in Grand Rapids.

We eat like a kilo of this every other week. It is sooooo good!
The swedish stuff is all crumbly and shit and in no way comparable to Tine's stuff. Although apparently there is a small scale cheesery making some gourmet attempt at brunost, so I'm kinda keen to try that.

Hahaha I drink mine with eggnog, when the time is right. Vernors is kinda magical. Though I did just find this: http://www.blenheimgingerale.com/

It is pretty spicy, and it will take care of your sinus ailments. Ginger ale is no joke. I would never have maintained the straight-edgedness of my misspent youth without a shit-ton of root beer and ginger ale.
infamousalien wrote:I'm pretty sure Superman ice cream is a Michigan thing too. Juggalos be damnded! Rock & Rye is a great pop!
Dude, I forgot about Rock & Rye! I haven't had any in years...one thing I love about Faygo (besides the laughable prices) is that they do not give two shits about accurately naming their flavors. What the fuck is 'Rock & Rye?' Or, my personal favorite: 'RedPop,' which basically just tastes red. I think there may be a strawberry on the wrap, but...the flavor is just a color. Sort of like how banana-shaped Runts just taste yellow--nothing like a banana. Jean Baudrillard calls this the 'hyperreal'--where the false thing that is made in the image of a real thing actually becomes a real thing itself. Sign and simulacra.

Man, I came into the office waaaay too early today.

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.
