Depending on when I get around to putting new speakers in it, I'd really really like to.whoismarykelly wrote:Will this be out on the next Cult Leader tour?sam adams wrote:My first bass amp in high school was a matching Acoustic Model 220 head + 408(4x15) cab. The head now lives at my friend's studio. But I've been kicking myself for years after selling that cab. Until just the other day I found one locally...
I plan on rewiring it from 2 to 8 ohms for now. But eventually I'll replace all the speakers for more power handling and a normal 4 ohm impedance. The stock speakers sound really cool, but only handle like 300w total.
Between that and my Ampeg 8x10 I feel pretty happy about my bass cab options.

I love the look of those old Univox amps. Glad you finally got the Egnater sorted out.digi2t wrote:Just off the bench. Univox 1050, picked it up dirt cheap, because it was sick. The OT was dead, so put in a new one, did a cap job, and treated it to a quad of Ruby's. The 12AX7 Mullard's are original "Made in Great Britain", they're probably worth way more than what I paid for the amp. It also came with a set of 60's era RCA 6L6's, but they didn't look like a matched set. I'll have to get them tested.
Needed a new PT. This one was from the first generation with the bum transformers. Once I got the transfo from Egnater (that was an aria unto itself!!), and a full set of tubes, it's now singing loud and proud.NSFW: show
It's been a great month for amps.

Normally I would be like, forest green ain't my thing, but suddenly it's my new favorite color.

Re: Let's see your AMP!
I don't know if this is the place to post this, but has anyone here built their own cab / can anyone point me in a good direction for building a DIY 4x12 cab? I looked at a couple YouTube videos that made me believe that I have the skills to do it, but other searches were somewhat yeildless.
I'd be looking to build something in a Emperor / Janice style with stained wood rather than upholstering with tolex or whatever.

Re: Let's see your AMP!
These popped up for free. The amp section for a mid 1950'ies Phillips EL 3501 reel to reel studio recorder. Not quite sure about the condition but it looks clean. Weird input/output but hopefully it will turn into either an instrument amp or a hi-fi system.

It's here and it's SOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOD. I think I'm gonna buy one of his series two 412s to go with this instead of building one. I'm lazy lol
