I also wanted one for years. I used to have a 200s that I loved but had no use for it since it couldn't keep up in any bands I play. This thing is awesome though. I only played it a few minutes to test it, but enjoyed it more on bass than on guitar. It was a bit too scooped for me on guitar, though it sounded better with a boost/drive in front. But on bass it was awesome. Good headroom and thick notes. Didn't get a chance to try a fuzz or anything, but I'll spend more time with it soon. I have to recap it and swap the power cord for a grounded three prong. It's entirely original to '71. Honestly doesn't even look used. Tubes are all original and don't have even the slightest bit of fading at all.BoatRich wrote:Dude I'm so jealous, I've wanted a 2000s forever. Whoa, that looks amazing!
Picked up the JM-160 today. It's so clean, but oooooh so loud. Takes pedals like a boss!

One for left and one for right? Or, left and right into both?
While leaves shall fall, do branches intertwine, that we remain bound.

Re: Let's see your AMP!
So I bought this VT-22 cheap off Craigslist. The seller told me it was probably only good to part out but I figured I'd give it a shot. I took it to my amp tech and he calls and says the only thing wrong is tubes are bad, even says the crappy Peavey speakers that came with it sound really good and don't need to be replaced unless I really want to. Got it home today and celebrated by giving myself a headache.

Stories like these are among the best scores, ranking high on a user's all-time list. At least for me.odontophobia wrote:That's an awesome score.zeravla wrote:So I bought this VT-22 cheap off Craigslist. Only thing better is finding gear curbside or dropped off at a landfill...in need of basic hardware store parts like a few o-rings.
Which come to think of it...hasn't happened for me in a long while. Maybe thrice altogether since 2009. Before that over a dozen times from 2005 through 2008.
The local laws have changed too; now the state doesn't want anyone salvaging discarded electronics of any kind. They got wise to the picker/flippers and now keep everything to sell off, probably in bulk. It's a shame, that was a great source of OOP materials: tube pulls, speakers, transformers, grill cloths, entire amps and stereo components...
The only instrument amp I've found was an old MIM Ampeg head with some Magnavox branding on the rear. It had black plate 6550s inside which sold for $300 at auction and went to Japan. Then I traded the amp to a good dude upstate, for a TB loop and a future pedal I haven't collected. I'm already way ahead, and consider the exchange settled. Anything more is just icing on the cake...it's an amp I wasn't going to use anyway, needs restored and went to a good home.

[B/S/T shoutouts] Shortlist: Hollow Earth|Ct5|856|Condor|Thermae|OP-1|half track reel2reel|Prophet6 ...

Yeah. Those types of stories seem to be few and far between these days. It seems like people have gotten way better at the internet in recent years.rustywire wrote:Stories like these are among the best scores, ranking high on a user's all-time list.
