Unpopular album opinions

Postby UglyCasanova » Fri Oct 30, 2015 8:39 am

I think Smashing Pumpkins' Machina album is superior to Siamese Dream.

The last Pink Floyd is garbage shit

Beach Boys' Pet Sounds > Beatles

Sunn O))) with Ulver was really good

new Slayer is boring, sterile wank

Sabbath with Ozzy always > Sabbath with Dio

most Wilco with Nels Cline > most Wilco pre-Nels Cline. And I mean even live versions of older songs are just... better with him doing stuff  Not really talking that much about writing

Empros is the best Russian Circles album

NIN from Fragile (including) onwards > most of the early NIN. Mainly production wise, but I also just prefer the more deep and detailed approach to the early thrashy punk attitude :idk:

This is not unpopular opinion. This is scientific fact; always and forever.

Uh, just off the top of my head,

I agree, Machina is due for major critical reevaluation... hate Billy Corgan because he's an asshole, not for his ambition

Pinkerton (1996) is better than Weezer (1994)... like, different universe better

Say Anything are still putting out good music, it's just different, and while I love it, ...is a Real Boy worship kinda irks me

There are Sunn albums besides White 1, White 2, and Black One... I liked the Ulver collab, too, and I really liked the Scott Walker one

Third Eye Blind (1997) is one of the best albums of the '90s and of Britpop in general, and goes toe-to-toe with anything by Blur or Oasis

Other '90s alt-rock albums that are better than you think: Dizzy Up The Girl, New Miserable Experience, Live Through This, Bringing Down The Horse

Speaking of Britpop, Blur's Parklife (1995) just isn't that good, people... time to let it go

The Libertines' Up The Bracket (2003) is thoroughly average garage rock and the worship of Doherty, in general, is an anomaly

Deja Entendu (2003) is, forever and always, a superior album to 2006's The Devil and God are Raging Inside of Me

Every album in Led Zeppelin's catalogue brings something to the table, even CODA, and Houses of the Holy was the best one

2Pac didn't have any great albums, he only had good songs... Ready To Die tops anything in 2Pac's discography without contest

I will come back with more...

Agreed. I think a lot of people feel like TDS is unbeatable due to being into it when it came out and seeing how huge it got and experiencing something different. The same way Radiohead fans go fucking nuts for OK Computer. I don't feel that way about either of those albums, but I might feel different if I was there.

& I feel like the Fragile could have been a super kick ass "standard" album rather than a pretty good double album.

:p that album heavily relies on the sequencing of songs, almost all of them cross fade into each other. A lot of us are album listeners, so I think that if some of the fat was trimmed it would have a way stronger impact than it does now.

Hey, it said unpopular opinions. The only reason TEB aren't Britpop is that they were American.

FYI I am trolling a bit
