I would say Rare Waves/Eric are focusing on it, yeah.

And, of course, the Grenadier is out there (although I haven't played one yet). I believe they still sell/were selling the filter in a Eurorack format. The filter is where the magic happens in the DC, dunno why I don't see more of them (maybe less mojo steez than the ammo box version?) in the wild.

From the site:
Drone Commander 2 is a true analog synthesizer with discrete transistor technology. It has 12 knobs for lots of hands on control, and every knob is a push-pull switch for lots of tone modification options.

It retains the original Drone Commander filter, and adds a second independently controlled filter for contrast. The second filter is a smooth and clean 4-pole lowpass filter (-24dB/oct VC-LPF). It has an attack-release envelope generator and serves as a lowpass gate, to control the volume and tone.

The LFO section has been completely revised.. its kind of hard to describe, listen instead (please pardon the noodling)

The optional Expander module can be connected for extensive voltage control. It has 18 patch points including CV/Gate input, Clock in/out, and external audio input. Connecting a MIDI controller and MIDI-CV converter to the Expander gives the Drone Commander 2 its full potential for melodic control, sequencing, and synchronization.

A stand-alone version may be in the works also. More audio at soundcloud.com/rare-waves

Thank god I'm already into Eurorack and I have an excuse now to get a DC2.

Like I needed one but whatever.

At this point it really depends on how much it costs to grab one. On the fence about just continuing to use my DC and expand out into other tone shaping units instead or trying to get a line on the DC2 (particularly if they make a standalone version).

I'm just thinking about the possibility of going from completely zonked out drones to sequenced polyrythmic jams then back to the drones in a quick and fluid manner. Mmmph.

Cheers!
Hopefully standalone will happen.
Or I just wait for the V1 flipping when V2 comes out.
I really need to stay out of that Eurorack and Midi business though ... (repeats x times).

Got to take part in an improv noise jam tonight, this was my set up. I ran the El Cap full wet the whole time, sounded great. One of the other dudes had this giant contraption of wood/springs/nails/etc contact mic'd up and run through some pedals. Good times.

Everytime I see a Superego I weep that I haven't tried one out yet. Still super nice though.

Were you running the Mininova as well? Have you tried plugging your DC through it yet? It applies some of the patches on top of the sound as well which is really nice.

Anything and everything! It's a fun box that has taken pretty much any pedal well.
