EA Spectravibe

Post by echorec »

This is on Endangered Audio's Instagram feed. I'm on my tablet, so I can't share a photo. It appears to be a modulation combo box with some wah-like filtering.

That is their new version of the gristleizer with just one of the two modes and no association with the band I believe.

I wonder if they'll want ridiculous money for it too.

10/10.

Sidenote, thanks to jrmy I'll be able to do a shootout between the EAR gristlelizer circuit and the MusicPCB one sometime next week.

I think the EA guy explained that in the EA Delay Thread.

This pre-order is deeply discounted from the final price of the pedal. Another pre-order will commence when this limited run is sold out, but it will not be as deeply discounted
$235

Also:
The Spectravibe runs off a normal 9-volt DC pedal adapter, but the circuitry inside boosts the voltage to +/- 9 DC for a total 18 volts.
So it's a charge pump, right?... Like the original.

It has both modes, VCA/VCF, labeled Trem and Vibe.

Two expression pedal inputs as well! I'm trying to talk Todd into a Bias expression input for 3 possible inputs...we'll see.

"So it's a charge pump, right?... Like the original."

We have a specially designed charge pump that does not produce any audible whine - Todd just finalized the design this week. The original design actually uses an 18V input.

D.o.S. - please do a video of your shootout! Especially compare the VCF modes together. Our Gristleizer/Spectravibe has its own custom filter that is different from the original. Send it to me at mark@endangeredaudioresearch.com and I'll post it on our FB :)

Sounds good.

Just a warning, though -- the EAR build (which was DIY from your kit but not from y'all) has "significant LFO bleed" right now (which won't matter since I don't plan on using the dry signal), and I probably won't be running guitars through it.

Interested to try the Spectravibe once they start getting into production. The Gristle is more or less my favorite circuit ever.

I know the guy said the old knobs were a pain in the ass to acquire, apparently via dickhead vendors, but... I miss em.

The new ones look p great though, will say.

D.o.S. - ah, so this is an old kit? The older versions have the old filter in them - the new filter was made in version 3, so if it's a stompbox or an older tabletop, it won't have the same filter in it.

Popvulture - you'll love the new knobs we have cooking up - we're working on getting molds made and will be doing them all in-house. We have to actually custom-build some machines to do what we want with them, so that will take a second, but it will definitely be on the new delay :)

Yeah, it's an older stomp model, I think. Would be more than happy to do a comprehensive shootout of the classic circuit with a more current one if you want to lend me one, of course. ;) :p

In general the vibe and trem seem to sound nice.
All guitar video's have the drive sound on, it sounds a bit too raspy and farty to me on guitar, it would be good to hear some sounds without the drive circuit.
The resonance on the filter seems to be a bit high and/or the q factor too shallow, therefore the parked wah sounds and some of the vibe sounds (depending on where the bias control is set) have a nasty ringing quality to them which I don't really enjoy.
good deals with: the_brow, phantasmagorovich, alexsga, DarkAxel, goroth, The Wood Wizard, Tendollarcat, vbps, monkeydancer, intothegroove, Brobee

Need better bass and guitar videos. Agree it seems farty and raspy from the clips.
