Teach me about samplers/sequencers/drummachines

Or just give me a few links, I don't mind <3
I'm interested in everything, samplers doing modulation with knobs, drum-machines, pre-record sample devices, mixes of all those, I don't even know what exists out there. I want something great for live use, with presets and functionality etc. Audio quality info is also useful, but functionality more-so (at this time at least, I'm just getting started, I really don't know a thing about the subject).

THANKYO!<3<3<3

The house fave around ILF seems to be the Korg Electribe. The iElectribe iOS app is reportedly pretty good at doing that stuff, too if you have an iPad.

(Do we need an I <3 Bloop sub forum?)

I never liked Electribes and think they are too toyish and cheap sounding with bad editing, ugly aesthetics and a clunky interface but no one ever listens to me on this forum cause I'm too old and must not know about hip electronic things... Get an Electribe and hate it too...

Here is the last thread about Samplers, I wont start on those either... :grumpy:

My vote is to get a laptop, a midi controller, and some software (personally I use Reason and love it). The possibilities are endless. It's got synths, samplers, drum machines, bunch of effects... I could go on and on.

For the money a Micro Korg is a good place to start if you want an editable hardware synth. it's not too complex but enough to keep you busy for a while.

I second using reason or at least a demo/light version of it. Following along with their extensive set of tutorials will teach you the mechanics of synth sound design. after that you can decide which kind of sound you're after.

I've got mad Moog Voyager gas going right now.

Korg Microsampler looks like a good starter sampler, too. If you're looking for more of a keyboard sampler it might be worth checking out.

Really appreciate the input guys!

Think the electribe is the closest thing for what I'm going for. I still have a lot of research to do tho.
And I like the microkorg, hate the keys, but overall was not impressed.
And the laptop idea could end up as most viable.

Off to the googles!
