Yeah, I really don't like the VB-2 either, it sounds way too ugly and seasick.
The CE-1 vibrato mode on this Waza CE-2 seems to sound great, the CE-1 chorus mode still seems to sound too clinical and not lush enough though, closer to the CE-2 than to the CE-1.
good deals with: the_brow, phantasmagorovich, alexsga, DarkAxel, goroth, The Wood Wizard, Tendollarcat, vbps, monkeydancer, intothegroove, Brobee

i thought the demo was kind of shitty but holy shit that's basically the JC-120 stereo chorus/vibrato in a pedal, no more no less. keen as fuck.

It's about god damn time imo

The vibrato mode on a good univibe is my favorite vibrato but the CE-1's is a close second.

Make a jc that's just two independent clean circuits with a phase control. :snax:

They've done it in their multis quite well for years.

They should put the JC distortion in a pedal lol

The second video it seems like they're using both outputs and stereo miking the amp, but the recording is in mono I think. I want to hear some stereo shit.

I guess I'm the only one who enjoys the VB-2W? Heh. I'm actually using mine at the back of a lot of chains for all the things I wanted to do with the Instant Junky. I will agree that it's generally too intrusive, if you push the depth pot past 12:00. Past 12:00, it sounds much better to me in standard mode, instead of the (modern) custom setting. As a synth user, though, who uses a lot of phase and delay, it works quite well as a complimentary piece for soundscapes, experimental ambient stuff, and Krautrock/film score textures. I just dial everything back, and it provides a significant wrinkle to the overall movement of the modulation. It works much better for me than the Julia, which was OK, but not as dynamic or as inspiring as the VB-2W.

Earlier it was in front of the Walrus Vanguard and a vintage-flavored delay, and it was giving me a pleasantly hypnotic whirl. I set the rate near minimum, depth at about 9:05, and the rise around 8:57 (bypass mode). I also use the latch mode, or with a faster rate, but then I'll dial the depth pot back a touch. As someone who uses the VB-2W quite regularly, the depth pot is almost always between 8:55 and 11:55. That probably turns some people off, who are used to being able to dime everything or set everything to noon, but I feel the pedal works quite well, if you don't approach it like other pedals.

The Diamond VIB1 also works quite well with phasers and delay for the degraded cassette effect. It's just a matter of dialing things back a hair, and finding those sweet spots. I have a hard time seeing myself parting with the VB-2W, but I'm a modulation lover. For what I do (stacking modulation and delay for thick, multi-colored, slowly-developing soundscapes), the VB-2W is a great companion to nearly everything it's been partnered with (Pocket Piano, Elka Rhapsody, dozens of phasers/tremolos/delay pedals).

Yea, the original was over the top, it was what it was, the vibe circuit in the JC is not exactly subtle either.

If I can have the vibe and the JC circuit in one box though!

I wonder if it'll have the combined standard+harmonic? Either way I don't see it being far from the price of a Gravitas, thus useless compared to it. :idk:

I would buy two :excellent:.
Unfortunately, when Roland reissued the JC-40 last year, the revamp of the distortion circuit was part of the platform ("we fixed it") :picard:. If only they had an easter egg setting on that Waza Amp....

I found *one* use for the distortion circuit on my JC in 20-some years of ousing them that wasn't "off". :)
