This is just something that I think about a lot, too, as someone who works in education. Supposedly, the idea is that colleges/universities try to exist outside the world of finance--we 'create' new markets rather than supplying worker bees to existing markets. Clearly, that isn't the case. But the problem of shoehorning innovation and new ideas into a curriculum that isn't really designed to do new things is growing...mostly, we are custodians for existing ideas, and job-training personnel.

Anyway, the point is that knowledge/intelligence and money are like oil and water. They can exist in the same space, but they don't really make sense together. One of the goofiest things about this place (I think D.o.S (whose name is super annoying to type out) and Psychic Vampire pointed out) is that there's a kind of anarcho streak to our compulsory purchase of stuff. Which is cool; I do it, and it's not hard to decode. But there seem to be two ideas that just can't integrate one another--that design is 'in the air,' and that pedals are hotter than they've ever been, and are reeling in the dough. Some people/designers/builders are really toeing the line on that.

Side note: interviewing for a Deanship right now, and the President of the college asked me what changes I'd like to make. Like an idiot, I said "burn it down." She paused for a long time, then said "then burn it down!" :excellent:

First off, congrats on the interview! And even more congrats on saying that to a "boss" and not only getting away with it, but getting some encouragement. Love it! haha.

I knew your intent wasn't to edit or filter out the meaning of my long winded ramble, . I was mostly being critical of the way I can turn anything into a ramble. I guess free time will do that to some people (me, ). Sometimes I like reading a kind of work through of people's thoughts myself, so I tend to lean that way when discussing issues...it annoys the hell out of my wife ("Yea, yea, Bakersfield...this, punk rock that...I'm watching American Horror Story...be quiet" or "No, don't give a shit about The Red Earth (Trần Tử Bình)...it's four a.m."). :animal:

The anarcho-stuff...yea, I agree. I was talking that issue over with people the other day. Lot's of issues there....and I am going to shut up haha.

Cheers man! Hope ya get the Deanship, man!

KEELEY! I'm going to ask him the hard questions...

It isoften hard to talk politics with people, when your politics make the fringe look moderate. In general, I regard consumer choices as a capitalist quagmire. Itry to give my money to people who I think deserve it more, and no give it to overt homophobes and racists, but one of the major problems with this economic system is there is literally no actual control over that, and convincing myself that the economic choices of a homo living below the poverty line matter at all just leads to weird self importance and liberalism.

Then again, stealing things from other individuals is fuckingb shitty, don't do that, you know? I mean, I do veganism most of the time, so I clearly still think about how choices affect myself and my world, and I am bored by nihilism. I am rambling now. I agree with y'all, I just have feelings?

Nope. It's still being developed and one hasn't been released yet.

Personal/political. Haven't heard anyone really sort it out yet, though many have tried. The wisest thing I've heard yet (Vonnegut) is that we should 1) fart around, and 2) love whoever is around to be loved. Our 'purchasing power' or lack thereof only determines us so far as we let it. I'd really love to buy a PS4, for example, but feel immense guilt over shit like that.

I have feelings, too. But my brain won't shut up.
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.

Bellows sounds great on bass. Does anyone know if it's based off the Electra distortion? From the sounds and description I'm thinking it is.

Inconuucl wrote:But then in the same coin we are scare of digital. Give me a wavefolder pedal that's not that hideous source audio monstrosity.
The newer, conventional, rectangular series from Source Audio actually pisses me off a bit. As compared to the ugly duckling enclosures they add stereo, but they pander to the "norms" and make you go out of your way to tweak them somewhere unique, needing to mess with external deep editing. I know you can get there, but in-app Toneprint editing on my HOF already leaves me cold. Just give me the power in the pedal.

On the cloning basic dirt pedals front, if you don't add anything other than component selection, chances are I can find the same schematic and save a shit ton building my own. One of my moonshot ambitions for my DIY is to learn microcontroller stuff to allow advanced performance switching, like managing multiple presets and shit. We don't have flying cars yet but we have hoverboards now. As manufacturers of pedals for performance, I expect you to offer more than I could reasonably chew off on my own or I'm just not gonna keep you in mind. Sorry.

Nord/Clavia teased a new electric piano video the other day. The most recent pedal news includes these large boxes from Keeley.
