This needs to be on every page of the thread.

Say more? Can we help?

The comparison clip makes them sound fairly similar. :idk:
Or could be trolling and it is just the same pedal twice. :idk:
Nope. One was definitely the Mantic and one was definitely the MT-2. The fact that you think it was trolling and the same pedal is confirmation enough that my initial thought was correct.....the two pedals sound almost exactly the same.

I ain't getting involved in fighting but I will say the Death Metal is fairly similar in design to a BOSS MT-2 although EQ'd differently and Mantic does seem to like his DOD pedals.

I didn't like the way either pedal sounded, but I'm going to guess the second one is the Mantic? I played an MT-2 in a guitar center years ago and thought it was awful. The second one sounded slightly better to me, so I'm gonna say that's not an MT-2?
The Mantic was pedal 1 and the MT-2 was pedal 2.

Apparently "the Death metal is a Metal Zone with a flatter Q and a fixed center freq for the mids and a sightly flatter Q, [so] if the Mantic is a Death Metal clone it's a Metal Zone clone with a fixed center freq.", per Goroth, which jives with what Snuffie said.

So, you know, close the book on that one.

(except I totally called which one is the MT-2 because obviously I have golden ears blessed by cheap metal distortion Satan).
good deals are here.

MT-2 was my first pedal for bass. Honestly that thing can cop some mean ass shit if you use the EQ right. It can also sound like a barrel of shit.

Correct. It's all about taking the time to dial it in right, which isn't all that hard. I ended up with the MT-2 after a long and relatively fruitless run thru boutique land. Went thru basically every flavor of the month at TB and then just decided that the Boss pedals of my youth kicked ass back then so why not give them another chance. I ended up selling most of my boutiques in favor of a small collection of Boss classics. The only boutiques that survived the cull are the Mantic Vitriol, Built By Ryan Guvnor, COG Rogue One, Big Game Bedlam III, Jext Telez Dizzy Tone and a Big Game Fy-2. I have a Cog mini 66 and a Dunwich Volt Thrower on order, but truth be told, I'm having so much more fun with the old Bosses I may end up selling all the boutiques. Some of the above list are on Reverb right now in fact. The Built By Ryan pedal is particularly great though. He's my favorite boutique builder because he keeps it real without all the artisinal marketing bullshit.

I kept the MT-2 on my board simply because it coupled with the Bee Baa or older octave fuzzes was amazing. On its' own, certainly useable...but...

My pedalboard costs approximately 191 Metal Zones.

I asked the fellas at Mantic to join here and chime in. We'll see if they do. :)

No doubt they sound similar. NO doubt.

I stand by what I said originally though in my question as to why Mr. Bossman has joined a clearly boutique driven site just to shit on said pedals.

He did the same shit on Talkbass as he's doing here, but clearly some of you folks (DOS) aren't wiling to listen to that. Should I be surprised though? Nah. It just means this year I'll be sending nudes to you instead of the warm Christmas card.

Be a fucking member of this community is what I'm asking. Contribute to something other than pointing out the obvious (that boutique shit is clones of other shit...duh).

Who's shitting on Mantic? I clearly said in my first post to not get me wrong and that I love the Mantic Vitriol. I repeated that claim in another post. My point, again, was to point out the similarities between the sound of the Mantic and the MT-2 and that hopefully would save a brother or two some money.

And perhaps I'm too thick to realize it, but I never took this site for a totally boutique driven site, although yes, I do see all the subforums. Anyhow, I paid my dues to the boutique world in shelling out thousands of my hard earned dollars to buy them, so I don't beleive I need to justify my existence to you or anybody else. Suffice to say that I put a lot of money where my mouth was as far as boutiques are concerned. This gives me the right, imo, to post my thoughts and opinions, whether you like them or not.

Yo wassup Vid. Second one is the Boss. I could be wrong, but I think you're responding to the prescence of the mids, which imo makes the Boss cut thru a little better than the Mantic. You're the second person who likes the Boss better in a blind test.
