Purge wave 3.6.9: Lap Steel Steals Malekko Scrutator

Postby doommeow » Mon Jul 09, 2018 5:05 pm

New shiz and price drops as of 8/17. Deets and pics on the lap steels, scroll below.

Cleaning house. Prices are PPG w/ US ship unless otherwise noted. Happy to ship INT if you cover the dime. Not comfy with PPG, add 4%. Think my prices are out of line, lemme know.

Dig it.

Vintage Guyatone Steel - $350 + ship
Vintage Silvertone Steel - $300 + ship

Malekko Scrutator. Sexy sparkle green finish. Box. $150.

T1M Dropout. This is douchemongers box that supposedly lets you move one or more pedals in and out of the loop of another pedal (or amp, etc). Supposedly, being that I bought it used and never used it - and for all of the times I’ve seen people talk about these, I’ve don’t know if I’ve ever seen anyone actually say that they were able to make it work. IIRC it requires special stereo cables that I never got around to buying and my emails inquiring about such to the manufacturer were never answered. So, yeah, fuck him. Box, velcro. $50 or $150 for this AND the superego (since that’s what it was supposed to be paired with, obvs) $28 OBO.

EHX Superego. W/ Box & Velcro. $125 SOLD

Fuzzhugger Velcrobot, 2017 ILF edition. No Velcro. Don’t remember if this came with a box, if I have it I’ll include it. $75 SOLD

Micro brute. Newish. In box. If I can’t find the original power supply ( was using it for something else for awhile) I’ll include an aftermarket OEM type deal. $190 $180. SOLD
Korg Volca Sample OKGO ed. New, in box. Used for all of ten minutes, put back in the box and forgotten about. $100. Sold.
Bastl MicroGranny 2.5. Minty, in box. $150. Sold.
EHX Pitchfork. MINT. Box. Power supply. Etc. $105. Sold.

Coming soon: maybe my Grendel Drone Commander pedal....

I don't want to buy it. I etched it. :) Just happy to see it. I think two of them had purple but I could be wrong? That may be the only one.

I thought there was one purple and one green? Dunno. Either way, that’s a lifer.

And thanks! I’ve got the matching (well, in black, but from the same era/series) Echo Degrader as well. Had forgotten you did those.

I love both of these, but I also want an 8 string, so, yeah. Not sure if I’m keeping one, or both, or neither. So buy and help make up my mind.

Mellow yellow is a vintage Guyatone. 70s? I’m sure someone with the knowledge and interest could date the pots or something, but I’m already married. (Insert drum emoji). The bad : the individual string screws are missing from one of the pickups. The meh: the electronics aren’t as noisy as most vintage steels I’ve owned, but I’d still consider a shielding and/or rewire before gigging or recording; there’s a finish crack at the ‘headstock’, for lack of a better term, but it’s solid, doesn’t move, and hasn’t been an issue in the 3-5 years I’ve owed her - again, it’s finish only. The good: THERE’S TWO PICKUPS!!! And they are VINTAGE GOLD FOIL PICKUPS!!!! I don’t know if the market is still wetting its pants over such things, but in the recent past those were fetching what, $200 a piece?! Steels with dual pickups and/or ‘neck’ pickups seem to be rare - as someone who lives on the neck pickup on my other instruments, finding this was a treat. Ergonomics are such that you can do volume swells, Morello killswitching, and tone sweeps with relative ease. The gold foils are bright without being unnecessarily harsh, there’s a couple of sweet spots on the tone control where you can dial in some extra depth or warmth, but still have plenty of cut/spark/etc. Great little oddball steel. Never seen another like it.

The kinky Kalamazoo kloset klown is a vintage Silvertone. Late 40’s early 50s. Why Kalamazoo - it’s got a Gibson P13 pickup and supposedly the other electronics came from the Gibson factory in MI. Same holy grail hooboo joojoo as your overpriced 50’s Les Paul. For me, the selling point is the pickup. It’s just a big fat mean sexy ass single coil. Bright if you want, dark and smoky as three day bender if that’s your bag. Never played anything exactly like it. Some bougie hype winder needs to find a way to retrofit these into the neck of a telecaster and make themselves a million bucks. Or an SG. Would kill in an SG. But it also kills in a steel. The electronics are noisy. The body has had some dings and donks - it’s what 70 years old? There’s a modern jack plate on the side, assume the jack has been replaced as well. I might have the original in a box somewhere, I vaguely remember some old parts coming along when I originally purchased, if I find it I’ll include.

I need to find boxes to ship these in - I’ve got company this weekend, so I’ll get on that Sunday or Monday. One thing I can offer one of the buyers is a gig bag - the SX lap steel gig bag, maybe the nicest gig bag of any type I’ve ever owned - for an extra $15. First come, first served.

The Guyatone - $350 + shipping.
The Silvertone - $300 + shipping.
