Okay, so I figured this out and clearly the only solution is time travel. I'll go back with Eivind to a time when there were 87s for sale. The one thing we need to figure out is which time travel rules we need to follow.
I. PRIMER - My personal guess. See 'figure i' for explanation.
II. 12 MONKEYS - We may get sent back in time too far.
III. X-MEN: DAYS OF THE FUTURE PAST - For that prog-rock reference ("Yes", I've really thought this through, the shits gone meta).
