'Bedroom Boards' 100% Custom Pedal Boards. . .w/ SHAG!

Post by drasp »

Bedroom Boards are 100% custom, hand built pedal boards employing a unique system of convoluted foam & shag carpet to keep your pedals warm and safe when you're away from home.

The concept is a board that doesn't require a separate case, is 100% self-contained & uses ATA style hardware. The boards are built of 3/4" solid wood w/ the same uber-bad@$$ Kevlar impregnated goop that I use on the Chuckster. The lid flips open & falls off so set-up/break-down is super-duper simple. I hate velcro & like to rearrange my pedals on the fly, so the floor is shag carpet (several colors available) which can be quickly removed for easy cleaning. The carpet snuggles your pedals & makes hiding wires/daisy chains simple. The lid has a convoluted foam insert that gently squeezes your pedals when the lid is closed to hold them in place during travel. All boards will be built to order, so size is up to you. Same goes for 2nd tiers, etc. for those who need to hide a PP2, etc. Sky (and your imagination) is the limit!

Pricing will be based on your needs, but based around three basic sizes:

A (small) - ~225 in² - $195

B (med) - ~325 in² - $255

C (large) - ~525 in² - $315

The board with the pink carpet, pictured here, is just under the med size @ 12"x26". This is my personal board & was designed to fit my pedals. No reason to be constrained to any particular shape b/c we'll build each & every board to YOUR specs/needs. . .

Question - Do your pedals slide around on the shag when you stomp 'em? Sweet looking cases yo.

K... that's the same question I was gonna ask. I love the look of these, it would make me feel like i'm at home on stage. :thumb:

Nah, not for me.

Bedroom Board #1 was designed for use w/ my band & its been to every practice & show since w/ zero issues. We're a garage/psych band & play small bars mostly w/ short sets & several bands on the bill - I hate long setup/tear down rigs, so as much as I didn't WANT a board, I needed one.

The only thing we really tweaked from the original design was the front lip which is now slightly lower for those who use Wahs & other treadle pedals.

If you *need* velcro, obviously the shag isn't going to work for you. Can't hold your board upside down, need to put the lid on if you're going to carry it around much, etc. The benefit is versatility - I move my pedals around quite a bit & didn't want to fuss w/ velcro & having to move stuff around all the time. Just wanted a "blank canvas" that would keep my pedals up off the floor & make them easy to move.

Oh man, this looks great. Shipping to germany would be horrible though. So I pass.

The pedals will probably move a bit. But that shouldn't be much of a problem if you don't jump on them. What about Wahs though? I find some are pretty hard to engage if you don't step on them really hard. Is that still possible with such a thick carpet under them?

None of them. There are no fixed dimensions, only our pricing guidelines. I think we've only made a few large boards - IIRC Ryan's is a large:

It's not cheap but certainly worth it for us who love so much our little noisy effect pedals.
Please continue until I can afford this ;)

Dang, I'm really into this.
Would any existing velcro on pedals stand to do any kind of damage to the carpeting?

I don't think the velcro would do anything to the shag. The shag is a vintage 3" nap.
