So how are we feeling tonight/today? Are you getting psyched up about all the terrible action movies that will be made about this event?

T just banned travel from Europe to the US. Is that really enforceable or just inconvenient? (One could legally fly to Canada/Mexico and then drive in. If you're a legal alien with a VISA, I don't see this ban really barring people who are extremely motivated to reenter the US.)

The NBA has suspended its season after the first players tested positive (including an idiot who downplayed the virus by going out of his way to touch reporters' microphones).

The NCAA says they'll ban spectators from the basketball tournament. (will that be suspended/cancelled soon?)

Silver linings? Emissions are down. T's reelection is on increasingly unsteady ground. Maybe for a brief period, people will reflect on this and appreciate their family/neighbors? Of course T is simultaneously using this to stoke fear and isolationism, by weaponizing this against the EU and China.

What else is going on in your post-Pandemic life?

Silver lining is we all die and the animals and plants in a utopian human free world?

Well until all the unmanned nuclear plants go critical...

They wouldn't kill all the animals and plants around the world, so... Plan is still on

Already posted how I feel about it in another thread, anyway the lockdown here is now on almost everything. The restrictions have been extended to all the country, police is stopping people who move in cars and asking for the reasons (only allowed for work business or emergencies). As of today, all the shops are closing except the ones with food and essentials. It's a matter of time before they decide to close also the production facilities, some are already closing because of lack of personnel or because of the difficulties to get raw materials.

Man, Ubisoft sure put a lot of money into their marketing for the latest DLC from The Division 2.
I mean, there's viral marketing, but literally turning the world into their video game feels like a step too far.

Anyway. I normally wouldn't be all that concerned about a coronavirus pandemic because I'm in my 20's with no preexisting conditions, but my dad has a progressive respiratory disease and is in his 70s, so this shit fucking sucks. There's a good chance that there's already widespread cases in my area since we have the first "official" case of community spread in the state like, 15 miles away from where I live.
Also, there's no fucking toilet paper or water in the stores.

It's also worth considering that even if you and your whole family is healthy and unlikely to suffer one can still be worried and compassionate for those at risk. Which I'm not saying you aren't...

I'm sure you can wipe with a smartphone right? Or have they not replaced all paper yet

It's looking like my school might be switching to holding all classes online only for the next month, which would be awesome except that it would be a huge bummer pedagogically.

My main concern is for all the people who are at risk and really don't have an option to take the avoidance measures, like my father-in-law who takes the bus to work in a somewhat big office, doesn't have any specific medical issues but is also really out of shape, and is in his late 60s.

The big plus was that I was fast enough to land a Drolo Molecular Disruptor in the recent drop. I gotta choose patches before the shut the mail down...this could be the thing to keep me busy at home. Should snag a blooper or a mood to keep my kids busy. We’ve been in the house since Monday and it’s getting little cabin fever.

We’re on day 18 of our self-imposed quarantine. Here in South Korea things seem to be under control, and the rate of spread’s gone way down. I’m going to keep working from home for the next week, and if things keep getting better here, then I’ll head back to work the following week.

Not gonna lie, though, the quarantine hasn’t been the easiest thing to deal with for my wife and me. We only leave the house to take out garbage and get mail. We get all our groceries delivered, too. So, we’re definitely getting a little stir-crazy.

Let's hope Knut does the ilf drop on the bakfram before that happens!

On the real though, shit around here seems to be a lot of people freaking out and buying a ton of toilet paper. I thought it was a big overreaction by a lot of people but got a call from work tonight that one of the foreign customers that was visiting our new facility today might be infected. They said they took all the precautions and cleaned the place up but everyone who can work from home, should. I unfortunately can't do that so I'll be going in tomorrow. I have a little bit of an uneasy feeling about it because about 1200 people work at that facility so I guess I'll see what happens when I go in tomorrow. The one thing that I'm hoping for is that the building runs out of toilet paper and they send us home. Seriously though, I typically dont get to worked up about things like this but I'm starting to wonder if this is actually something to worry about, I mean its basically just a bad version of the flu right?

Best case scenario is it’s 10x deadlier than the flu? But if you can wear a mask and don’t touch your face without washing your hands first, that’s about the best you can do? When I am eventually forced to leave quarantine that’s my plan.

The mortality rate is quite a bit higher right now than the regular flu but not everyone is being tested, at least not everywhere... I'd wager there are more undocumented cases based on people not really showing symptoms than there are unattributed deaths. Is it something to take lightly? No, especially for people over 60 or those who are already immunocompromised or have other pre-existing conditions... But from all the reports I've read, it seems like it doesn't hit middle aged or younger nearly as hard as the flu can. I think the panic around all of this is likely to have further reaching consequences than the virus itself, unless it morphs into something more flu like with a similar mortality rate.

I do wish people would chill out a bit. Went to the grocery last night to get some stuff for the infant.... senior citizen was in line for checkout, yelling at a mother and her daughter over I have no idea what. Manager had to escort the lady through checkout and to her car until she left the parking lot. It's ridiculous that people are stocking up so hard, but it's equally ridiculous to get that upset over it. Especially at the stage everything is at right now.
I, myself, am a shit post

Yeah I don't see why it's so hard to be a decent person just because you're a little panicked (the answer is probably that these people never are but it comes out worse with stress). In times of stress like this it's probably even more important to try to be excellent to each other

yeah after a while the quarantine really messes up even the most calm individuals.
Starting today i'm working from home too, but i've already spent the last two weeks home for most of the time for taking care of our daughter.

Plus, it's very probable that i have been infected some weeks ago. I have experienced a really annoying disturb for the past 10 days: i can't taste or smell anything. Complete loss of those senses. Believe me, to eat a pizza and not having even the smallest idea of the taste is one of the worst sensations i ever had. Only upside is that can even change my daughter's diapers without smelling anything  . Anyway some articles are starting to come up connecting this desease as a side effect of the coronavirus in healthy people. There's nothing sure about this, so i don't know if they're really related, but a lot of people faced the same problem in the last weeks and the doctor said they're trying to understend if/how the two things are connected.
In the last 3 days i started to barely perceive something, most of the tastes are totally not the right ones, but it can take up to 3 weeks to recover completely. :idk:
