The circle jerk died somewhere around 2013, the rest is nostalgia. Glitch is boring. Modular is old men playing with model trains for the new millennia, there are actually only 3 fuzz sounds that are noticeable in a loud band context and bedroom cork sniffing is just a musical version of 30 something weeboos collecting Lucky Star fuck pillows.

My pedalboard is the same it's been for like 5 years. I was rotating shit around recently and not enjoying it, so I put my old board back together, and was like oh here are the sounds I like. I don't keep up on new gear anymore, and rarely know what anyone is talking about.

Music's role in my life has changed a lot since making a big push to release a bunch of stuff in 2017. Not sure what if anything I have to say with music, and instead of trying to brute force myself through that feeling, for once I'm just letting it go.

All this to say I'm getting older and just have to less to say about it all.

If not all of the above, many of the above, especially regarding time constraints, a dearth of gear posts relevant to my interests, and not seeming to have anything left to say musically. I'm down to playing guitar maybe once a month, and even then all I do is noodle aimlessly. I don't even have anyone to jam with anymore.

When I look at my 12 fuzz pedals I wonder what the fuck I need 12 fuzz pedals for.

But I'm still quite fond of all of you crazy fuzz freaks, so I still lurk and post a little when I can.

Well I didn't literally go and do that, there's a limit to my love for ILF.

I recently liquidated most of my fuzzes to buy a sweet firebird. Not that i had anything really valuable, but there was a few units. I mainly just use the one fuzz face clone anyway

About six months ago I started a job that works me 10-12 hrs a day m-f and sometimes weekends in a country on the opposite side of the globe from the majority of the members on here. But the lack of activity isn’t solely me. This is a forum based on our love of fuzz, and I think many of us have gone down the minimalism route (or at least gone down new gear routes).

So, many of us have found “our” fuzz, and we no longer need to spend our time hunting for the “perfect” fuzz. We have more free time and less binding us to this forum. And slowly we drift away as we see others do the same. People come back as they relapse into the fuzz, or they come back to return the goods they bought here, or they pop in every now and again to see how the fuzz-world has changed.

I’ll probably go full modular and disappear into the modular thread at some point, maybe even before the modular bubble bursts. But I doubt I’ll ever fully leave. The people here mean to much to me to leave

Work has definitely been the killer for me, but I'm still lurking plenty. Not that lurking helps, obvs, since what we want here is PARTICIPATION.

I've got one board that's getting pretty set, and one board that is in absolute disarray. Still gonna think about what could go on EITHER and BOTH all the time, no matter what.

And I still haven't found a glitch pedal that I really dig, but I think that's just me.

well, there are a few things...i've been putting all my energy into saving up for my road trip in September and even before that haven't been funded for much in the way of equipment. i think the last thing i bought was the Duo Sonic.

there's also the aspects other folks have noted, being more-or-less at capacity for pedals and the industry developing in ways i can't use. a lot of the energy in Pedal World that isn't getting diverted into modular is going into glitch pedals, post-PLLs, weird over-modulation, and other things that have no purpose in my world.

i do still have some pedalling left to do...i need a Cantrell wah, a Harm percolator, and a Keeley Loomer at least, and also want some more retro rack gear for my shoegaze thing. but i'm afraid the check-out-everything phase of my musical life is over. i still find the conversation enjoyable, though...i just don't have as much to contribute as i once did.

Ok, so here's a crazy suggestion that you can feel free to shoot down, but what about bringing more builders in again? There are plenty of people building crazy fuzzies out there, and folks who understand that you've gotta participate in online communities to make these things work (NOT to say that our current builders don't get that, just that we'd wanna make sure new folks get it too)... Champion Leccy, Lamp, Demedash, Bookworm Effects... I mean, there's gotta be more...

Yes, more builders would be smart.

Soooo how do we do that?
