Do you name your instruments?

Postby Benn Roe » Thu Sep 06, 2018 3:23 am

I just realized I don't name my guitars. This is perhaps an error. Do you all name your instruments? Share!

I call it by the brand or model name. Naming your instrument a human name always seemed a little sad to me. Midlife crisisish, so maybe in a few years.

My current guitars are The Black One, Cletus Interuptus, Scarlet, and Azazel. Their names primarily relate to finishes and other design aesthetics. Cletus was previously in open C tuning.

seldom. my old 335 was "Big Red," which apparently is the default nick for red 335s. then there's the parts guitars i cobbled together off eBay, the "Hopfner" (Hopf Twisty II body with Hofner Galaxie neck) and the "Kondor" (Kent body with Hondo neck). other than that they're called by the model...there are too many to name each one.

I have a red mustang and I put a star wars pin called "red 5" on the strap so that's sort of called "red 5" now, but it's my only mustang so it's still mainly just "the mustang"

Yes.

My old Toronado was "Toris", and current JM is just Venus.

I named an LP that I didn’t bond with and that I ended up trading when I was 17. None since.

I named my guitarist's guitars.
His 15 year old Gibson LP Studio that's all brown and has finish coming off in terrible ways is called Grandpa.
His new all gloss black ESP spiky LP copy that's too slick to actually be cool with some high tech "always in-tune" bridge that's rarely in tune and active pickups is called Batman.
I hate them equally.
