You fw900?

Whoops missed this! fw900 would rule. I have something similar but it is an NEC multisync, not widescreen like that yet it can do about 16 resolutions from 640x480 to 2048x1536. It's either 21 or 22" icr. Then there's the PVM and...

Also seems I forgot to mention antique hand tools, but thought I did? Have some from my grandfather and others picked up here & there.

Yup. It can and does get ridiculous. In hindsight this may have been a better starting point: http://retrorgb.com/rgbguide.html

That's awesome, I read great things about those NECs when I went CRT haunting few years ago. I was a lot into FPS (Quake mostly) and got this Sony GDM 400 for about $50 on CL and yes, amazing results with also beautiful blacks and shadows. Now I think there are better LCDs for better prices and makes CRT market for nostalgic purposes.

Books. If I was a rich man I'd be the loser paying six figures for signed editions.

I've swapped to digital with books unless I want to lend them or really think I'll read them a few times. I'm not really a collector type person though.

Dark games don't look right without crt dynamic range. I hope for future oled panels that fix all this stuff and are capable of operating at 15khz.

The games I really notice when 'done right' are shmups and fast platformers like Sonic. Plus the hybrids like Mega Man. Seeing full sprite animations and layering move smoothly without motion blur when everything is at intended ratios, with proper color palate, and the interactive response isn't hindered by unintended latency, it's special. You play better, and those old hardmode games become beatable, player movement is more intuitive. Ymmv

Lost my collection of books last year and it was seriously heartbreaking. I didn't have anything that was super valuable but I did have quite a few oddball editions of books that I really liked and what not.

Nowadays I'm spending all my hobby money on my bicycle. I'm really happy where my guitar gear is at. It's weird, with guitar I have a constant desire to jam with people, write songs, and play shows. There's always pressure to take it up a level or something. With bikes, as long as I'm riding it, I'm happy, and each little upgrade makes a difference on how enjoyable the ride is.
