Yeah, I was going to say that the stuff I said was so absurd even for a liberal to say, that I didn't think anyone would take it seriously. But I think you make a great point. There are actually people out there who would say stuff like that.

It is because people actually listened to each other and discussed it. And people on both sides of the issue made concessions and found common ground. This is why it is important to let people have and freely express different opinions, even if they are uncomfortable for us to hear or go against our values. Silencing the opposition is in my opinion the most dangerous thing we can do as a society, and it is going to come back around to bite us all in the ass. Seriously, did no one else read 1984 in high school?
