Is that thread purple?

Is it OK to post twine shots here too?

Also, everybody, please, post your favorite thread weight.

Embroidery Floss is the shit. Lots of fun for doing patches/making big stitches.

What's the best kind of thread to use to sew patches on to your battle vest?

I use regular sewing thread. What varies are the thickness of the needle depending on the jacket im working on. The thicker the material the thicker the needle. Usually two or three passes around a patch is enough to secure it. If that fails, the floss comes out for extra bracing.

Also, anyone got recommendations on where to get jacket studs? I get most of mine via Goblinko, which are fine. I just want more variety.

Personally, if you can get past the expense and speciality bobbin requirements, I'm a huge fan of 6/0 Peasall's Gossamer Silk, there's absolutely nothing like a classic. I prefer to tie my spiders in #3 Primrose, but also used quite a bit #19 Hot Orange for spiders used during spinner falls. #8 Purple is gorgeous, but I usually don't tie any flies with it. I meant to wrap my last rod with it, but I switched to a nylon at the last moment. I'm not really sure why.

For dries or wets with a dubbed body I'll stick to 70 denier UniThread or 6/0 Danville.
