Jesus vid then stop typing.

Yeah not to get too anecdotal, but I had a super fun wild goose chase to find my brother's body after I found his suicide note. I was 17, he was 14. Drove all over the state for a week following weird clues. Turns out he hadn't killed himself, but had chosen to live in isolation in Michigan's ultra-remote upper peninsula. He hitchhiked up there with camping gear. We all thought he was dead the whole time...he eventually called and asked to be picked up.

Suicide is a super fun time for all involved.
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.

My dad committed suicide almost 2 decades ago and that shit still gets to me sometimes. Not only are those kids gonna be fucked, but when they have kids of their own it's going to be just as sad.

I look at my kid all the time and think how much he and my dad would have fucking loved each other and it pisses me off that my kid will never know his grandpa.

Goddamnit that hurts, man. My dad died last May from a heartattack and it pains me to think that when I have kids he won't be around to see/be with them.

For real? That sounds like a movie, probably directed by Ben Affleck. You're played by Casey Affleck.

Did he ever say why?

No, I'm Ben Affleck. People tell me I look like him prolly once a month. And my bro looks a little like Casey.

And yeah he sort of told us why, but it's pretty complicated and personal (as reasons for suicide tend to be). Basically he wanted out of society and to get away from my family. Our childhood wasn't great.

When people are suicidal and have kids, they're usually not thinking "fuck my family, I'm out." They're probably thinking things like "I'm a burden on my family" "I've lost the capability to support my family" "My family is better off without me." and those types of thoughts are nearly impossible for some people to dismiss. It's a shitty situation for everyone involved.

Fine, you're the Assfleck.

No you're good. Can't deny that's it's an interesting idea, but if you do it maybe don't follow his lead in convincing everyone you've killed yourself as an alibi.
