True.

DC just can't make good films, which is killing all their cool characters.

It's not MCU, but I'm stoked as fuck for the New Mutants movie and my interests are piqued regarding Gifted too. Apocalypse could have been better, but Legion and Logan were both top-notch.

What characters does DC have that are being abused by their terrible movies, though? Other than Batman, I've always found DC's characters pretty dull. If I'm being honest, though, I don't really care about non-X-Men Marvel characters either, but have still enjoyed a lot of the MCU.

This thread will be devisive as fuck.
Not that I disagree with the title.

Batman is the best DC character, by the way.
Nolan didna good job, I thought.

If you havent seen the ultimate edition of Batman Vs Superman, and you hated that movie in its standard format, go see it.
Its pretty good, and Affleck doesnt suxk.

I am stoked for Momoa as Aquaman.

But not as stoked as I am for Infinity wars, because its gonna mean symbiote black suit spidey, which is gonna mean Venom.

My first post probably sounded harsher than I wanted - I mean, DC stuff is alright but there is always something that just doesn't work. There are some rad Wonder Woman comics, and it could have been a sick movie, but instead it was "yeah good but... "
Suicide Squad should have been fucking awesome... but wasn't.
Superman stuff is alright... but doesn't hold a candle to Batman at his best.
Batman at his worst is drivel.

The Marvel stuff can vary in quality but is generally always worth watching and entertaining in some way - DC is almost always a let down in some way.

:idk:

But I'm a total sucker for super hero films so I'll watch anything and enjoy it to some degree.

I agree with both of these statements.
I'm generally more of a Marvel nerd (was a huge Spidey fan as a kid), but Batman's radness must be acknowledged.

I'm not a fan of this Iron Man's Pal Spidey stuff. And Guardians 2 wasn't my favorite. But Dr. Strange was pretty great and I really like what I'm seeing about Black Panther. It's almost like they're taking some of the best stuff from Thor and Asgard to build Wakanda.

DC sure did fuck up Superman.

BvS is one of the worst films I've ever seen. Snyder is terrible, Watchmen is the 14-yr-old idiot version of the best deconstruction of the superhero mythos and philosophy.

The marvel films are great fun when they push boundaries but can feel formulaic. Here's hoping they've got the message and are mixing things up going forward

The Nolanverse is clearly its own thing. D.C.'s attempt at the shared-universe world-building has been lame and derivative. Really, all they had to do was copy Marvel's formula with their own characters. But they were too proud and dumb, took huge swings to try and catch up in two movies, and now have nowhere to go. At the end of their second movie, they shredded the appeal of their two biggest characters, killed the most powerful hero they have, wasted a terrifying and interesting villain as a throwaway plot device to kill superman, confused the fuck out of Luthor, and blew out minds with a revelation that ma's Kent and Wayne HAD THE SAME FIRST NAME.

Even the worst marvel movies have individual scenes worth more than the entirety of the DCU.

Haven't seen Wonder Woman, though.

Coming from the comics, Marvel's good at building a universe. DC's good at ending them. Maybe DC can reboot and do something less shitty? Bring on the Anti-Monitor!

Yup. It's one of those instances where the original material really is much, much better. There's a reason why Alan Moore refused any royalties and didn't want his name anywhere on these movies.

And recent Marvel movies range from entertaining to awesome in my opinion. Black Panther could be one of the good ones... I saw Logan last week (just released in Japan, we often get our movies after Kazakhstan for some reason) and it was quite good too.
