jia. looks like they just have English dubs and subs, no og language track. but it's one of the animes that has really good voice acting in Englits.

i still prefer Vash The Stampede and Bebop in the Englanjelical voices.

GUYS.

The Ritual was pretty great. Seriously spooky and great atmosphere. Lots of tension. Very effective scares and I can't remember a single cheesy jump scare.

Apparently it's very different than the book it was based on but I never read it.

I don't want to spoil anything about it because I knew nothing going in and it was much better that way.

After the stinky shit nugget that was Cloverfield Paradox, Netflix did good with this one.

huh. cool. Ritual looked super generic, so had little to no interest. but i'll check it out.

Blackcoat's Daughter was like that. i knew NOTHING about it. on purpose. except that a friend recommended it. and i looooooveeeeed it.

same with It Comes At Night. that is such a smart, interesting take on horror drama movies.

Daybreakers is on Hulu. it's not AMAZING, but they have a lot of really cool background world building stuff. so. fun.

I liked daybreakers! Willem Dafoe and Sam Neill in the same cool vampire movie. Good stuff.

I've been meaning to see the blackcoats daughter. I might see if I can find it tonight online somewhere.

I heard mixed things about It Comes at Night but the trailer was spooky as hell

Daybreakers was sweet. I love Sam Neill's character .. he was so gloriously evil.. always loved a good vampire movie.

Ritual definitely went off in a random direction from what I thought... Kinda sorta hated the last bit. Nothing is worse than the ending of The Witch though, so, points to Ritualdor.

I thought paradox was pretty cool. Except I don't remember the dad from Grounded for Life actually explaining what the damn paradox is or why it involves... "things"... Some of the Mystique felt a little artificial.

I've tried watching the first episode of Altered Carbon about 5 times now and I just can't stay interested enough to pay attention.

Speaking of anime, did anyone watch Devilman Crybaby? I mean, holy shit

Watched ep1 of Altered Carbon last night. I hope it gets better cuz I like sci fi stuffs.

The massive amounts of money they must have spent to support such terrible art direction is really cringey.

Anybody watched Babylon Berlin yet? It's a historical-fiction/fantasy/political-crime-mystery/neo-noir done by the guy who made Run Lola Run. Took a couple eps to grab me, but I'm *really* digging it.

About halfway through and it's an awesome show. Very complex story with great production values. Same as you, took a couple episodes but hooked now. Berlin in '29 was definitely a partying town.
Finished River on Netflix. British miniseries about a detective who sees and talks to "ghosts". Way better than it sounds. Freaking hilarious when he's speaking to ghosts in public and you see it from the public's eyes ... this detective freaking out screaming at a wall. Needless to say he ends up at a shrink.
Have to recommend Gomorrah on Netflix. Hands down the best mob show ever. Top rate. Season 3 should be hitting the US soon.

I've tried to watch the first episode of Altered Carbon about 5 times now and I just can't stay focused on it. I keep expecting Holden to say something creepily pedophilic.

Have we talked about the ritual? I'm starting to hate the trend of having a "story" with no context.

I hope they do another season of Slasher. I thought that was a fun series if you like slasher films.
