Yep.

I'm regretting not picking the x files reference now.

The only way there aren't aliens is if we are living in a simulation and even then, why wouldn't the programmer have added aliens? I mean, shit. Humans were only recently patched in. There had to be something programmed in first. Unless the simulation is new and all the memories and human history was all just part of the back story. If dudes can put years and years of lore into the elder scrolls games, surely it would be nothing for a cosmic power capable of programming such a crazy simulation to add in hundreds of thousands of years of history and then the world building leading up to that point.

Unless we are living in a simulation programmed by humans only slightly more advanced than we are now, only they were too good and the simulation got out of control. The Sims were no longer able to be controlled.

Wow this went off the rails.

Yes, aliens.

Which is to say I can certainly entertain the idea but why the fuck would you believe it?

Fair enough. I entertain the idea that aliens exist.

Are we talking intelligent or like anything at all? Microbial life seems much more realistic.

:idk: from a statistical point of view I think sure, possible but as for the they are visiting and probing us.. no sorry I lived in Sedona.. had to meet many people that thought they were walk-in and people that saw stuff and were abducted and probed… and I think a lot can be said for drugs and wishful thinking...

I believe in the sense of the Fermi paradox.
In that, there must be/have been/will be, but we are very unlikely to have encountered them (although, hopefully not never).

I should've been more specific, by aliens I just meant intelligent life somewhere else in the universe, even if its billions of light years away. Not so much the idea of aliens abducting people.

Seems likely. I doubt they would even be recognizable on sight as aliens, though...I'd be mighty surprised if there's some uncanny valley-type humanoids running around. Sentient mineral, gas, microbe, vegetation...something really weird.
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.
