The Tool Thread [not about inchworm metals and wine]

Post by Mudfuzz »

Since the beginning of time using and making tools has been what separates us possibly intelligent creatures from squirrels, so let of explore and talk and brag and gas over things to do things with and to things :thumb:

I'll get some pics in the morning. I can't get into the shop without opening the garage door. [We got robbed and I boarded up the door so that didn't happen again.]

I had an awesome pair of screwdrivers but I lost one years ago (they were a chisel combo thing and I used to used them to notch and dig out nails where drains had to go). Sadly they don't make them anymore. I just picked up an alright set of micro screwdrivers on Amazon for like $15. Electrian tools like Klein are usually pretty good. I'd stay away from Kobalt, Husky, and Stanley (or general, etc). I tear them up. Actually, I like the few Klein screwdrivers I have (the ones that work like a crank).

I think I messed up my router table I was building yesterday. I think I warped it somehow.

You know what comes in handy when your buddy's front suspension becomes completely separated out in the middle of the desert exploring mines?

this is awesome,
will try to get pics

best tool purchase I have ever made is a pair of channel lock bullnose plyers
http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Ch ... oduct.html

you can use them for just about anything
pulling nails
cutting wire
even cutting sharp ends of screws and things if needed
very rugged
now have a pair for the garage and a pair for the toolbag so they are always on hand

Sorry about the big picture.

Image

Pictured: Dewalt Radial arm saw, Douglas Hammer (formerly the Hart Woody), Tajima Z-Blade Dozuki, Dowel Jig (finally got a good one), Stanley No 80 scraper, 1900s Stanley Scraper (don't remember the number), Stanley 45 Combo Plane, Stanley 278 weird plane (my favorite, works a dado, rabbet, or chisel plane), two cherries chisels, shitty stanley bullnose plane, my other favorite hand plane (stanley...my great grandpa's), Stanley 289 skew plane. That weird hacksaw is a fairly rare convertable one. Probably 90 years old too. There is a surform there too. And an driver wrench. I have dovetailing guides/templates too and some other stuff, but I suck at all that.

That's the stuff I use when wood working. I have a Stanley Jack/Joiner plane too, but I forgot that in the picture.

My plumbing tools are way cooler. Because that's what I did forever.
