That's what beans are good for! Best cheap + nutritious combo attack. Easy to combine with the ramen too.

working on cheaper food will also stand me in good stead when i do the 3-week road trip next fall, which is going to cost a metric fuckton of money.

Yep that's pretty standard. I've heard it lovingly referred to as "skinheads on a raft" :lol:

My lady is a Brit and I'm pretty convinced they're hiding some junk food mastery up their sleeves. The other day she was telling me we should make a "fish finger butty," which sounds kinda horrifying to an American but is actually just a delicious sandwich made of fish sticks, cheap white bread and some kind of mayo / butter/ HP sauce kind of thing. Guh, I'm into it.

That sandwich sounds exactly like a Filet-O-Fish, which is definitely something that I have enjoyed my fair share of :snax:
